I spoke with a tech at Spectre who said their new ls cai for a 1st gen f-body won't work in my car because I've moved the engine 1.5" forward from stock. I've never even seen a cold air intake in person so I don't know what to keep in mind. I don't know if I could just cut an inch off their intake but I figure I must be able to build one cheaper. Its an 06 LS2 (58 tooth).
If you've done this let me know what you did and what kinds of things to keep in mind.
I've done a search. I saw what some guys used on this thread https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?75957-Air-intake-tube but I need to know if I need to know where to put the maf, if I can use the one on the engine and anything else I should keep in mind.
thanks guys
Scott

I had the somewhat of the same problem -- my motor is set back a bit and was going to get the spectre and try to modify it. I did attempt to buy the intake components from Spectre but had a few issues with the sales team there and decided not to go with them. So on the recommendation of the guys over at Ironworks I called Treadstone Performance (http://www.treadstoneperformance.com) and bought my components from them. They shipped the aluminum tubing the same day along with the bung for the MAF got everything within three days and the parts were top notch! -- I would definitely recommend buying your custom intake components from them if you decide to build one.
As far as where to place the MAF, I am using a blade type drop in and the tech at spectre told me as long as it is installed in the right direction it doesn't really matter where you place it.

Good link. Thanks.
Can I somehow use my own maf?

What type of MAF is it? Is it a drop in blade (ls7) style?

Is another great source for intake components to make one yourself. They are also one of the lowest priced places for t-bolts I have found.

Its the stock ls2 maf.? I don't know much about any of this so I'm putting it out there. The place I got it from cut off the intake tube and left the maf.
