We don’t just work on Camaros and musclecars. We work on all kinds of makes and models including racing cars. Without our professional racing experience we wouldn’t be able to design all the great parts we make for your vehicles. Here’s a video of our 962 Porsche after a recent rebuild/restoration. We had a great time at the track and thought we’d share it for some fun. Turn up the volume and go full screen!

I'd venture a guess that you had a slight power advantage...how much power is that thing making? That thing has lots of drive up off the corners...great braking getting into them as well....that has to be fun when you can go that quick.

Nice, looks like a lot of fun. is that the old 'Laguna Seca' track (or whatever its called now) looks familiar?

Its the "new" track. With a turbo, you need to brake and hit the gas to build pressure for a good start. Mark apparently knows how to do this well!

962 is one on my all time favorite race cars. Such a great shape.
Looks like it is a lot of fun to drive too. What kind of power does it put out? How much of the original body, chassis, and everything else does Porsche still support?

John - The 962 was designed in the early ‘80s, made its debut in ’84 and raced until the early ‘90s. It makes 730 horsepower with a fresh motor in race trim, and weighs about 2,300 pounds. The Hotchkis car hasn’t been freshened in years, so it might be down a little on power. The RS Spyders he was racing against made their debut in 2005 and are still racing. Much lighter – 1,700 pounds – but also with less power, about 500 in race trim. These cars are also MUCH more sophisticated, being designed 20 years after the 962. Despite that Mark Hotchkis still won the last Rennsport Reunion racing against Porsche factory driver Patrick Long, and did well this year as well.

Kudos to Mark for giving up 600# (even though the power to weight is close) yet being able to compete like that...that's great.

I'm interested in the rationale for always moving your left foot to the dead pedal between shifts-Is it to prevent accidetal pressure on the pedal that may result in clutch slipping and frying?

20over...you need something substantial to help you brace yourself in there. A foot rest helps you stay planted.
