I picked it up for $1,200 with the 5 lug swap already done which was amazing, fully disc brake, running and drove it home after it sitting outside for two or three years. Yeah, i had to stop like 3 or 5 times due to the battery draining. Once I upgraded to 3g alternator the minute I ordered and it went away. It had 160,000 miles or close. The other bonus was that it has t-top!
I was suppose to get 1970 351 boss block with it but i decline it. It was only a block and I had to pay $1000 extra for block i wouldnt use since I had 306 in my garage already. it actually had the 1995 cobra wheels with black insert that i dont have in this computer file and that mach 1 wheels was replaced with the stock engine i traded for it from this car.

Unfortunately and fortunately i got my car back from the shop with the new Cobra Teal paint which looks amazing from 10 footer. You can tell, I wasnt too happy. It will be re-done and put in a better shop and closer to me. It took me months to get ahold of the guy. NEVER AGAIN.
I have a ford 306, it has all forged internals built as a nitrous motor its got a ford motorsports E 303 cam crane hydraulic lifters, Manley pushrods, its got cast 289 fully ported heads for racing valve covers 24 LB injectors ported upper and lower intake, Holley 75 MM throttle body turbo T-body, bbk cold intake, holley systemax 2 upper and lower intake, Pro- M Mass Air Meter and lalala......Missing few little things, I cant remember on top of my head.
I upgraded to ROH 18 Drift R which looks amazing. It s not even on other fox body with 5 lug mustang, I HOPE. LOL
My plans is to get the engine idle running well then tear the car apart again. To have it completely paint inside the engine bay, under the chassis and inside the gap.
Find a complete mach 1 or Cobra Interior to put in.
Then enjoy it for awhile now. Eventually I will cut the wheel house and pro tour it as it goes.

Nice project, and pretty scarce to see any T-Top cars left anymore. I like your color choice, my favorite Fox is a teal '93 Cobra, and of course a black '86 LX coupe ! :)
I spent alot of time restoring my '86 last year, but after years of modding these Foxes, I can't bring myself to changing this one much. I love these cars, and have had close to 30 of them now, so it becomes an addiction.
Is this your first Fox ? That was a good deal you got !

Thanks man! No, it s actually my 13th or 15th fox. One of my 4 t-top I have owned. I like to fix up fox body and sort of flip it when i can. I lost count but my first fox that I sort of built from the ground up. This fox is definitely not going anywhere. I will keep it as long as I can!
It has new Pro eibach springs, 10 way strange adjustable shock and strut, 3.73 rear with carbon clutch pack and etc. Full Length subframe welded. Aftermarket upper n control arms ( I cant remember the brand but, I will edit this as I find out).
The ROH Drift R are 18x10, 18x9- They are very hard to find, took me a long time to track them down and get them for a good deal.
Its nice to see another Fox. Thats a great looking car. Those wheels are sick and really set it off.
"Aftermarket upper control arms" Due tell. I'm very interested to see you front suspension.

Thanks man! Yup those wheels really set it off. You should see it in person, perhaps when I have a better good quality camera. I will be able to take some new pictures.
Thanks for reminding me. I looked. I have maximum motorsports lower control arm and I know I have adjustable upper control arm but I am unable to see what brand. I tried to look on google for similar set. I am guessing it is granatelli. I will lift my car eventually and take pictures of the chassis and check it out the same time when i can.
The front suspension is pretty much stock for now except for pro ei-bach spring and strange 10 way adjustable strut. I am on budget. In long run, I would love to get tubular k member with tubular control arms and do a terminator swap with 6 speed.
Any donation would be appreciated!! LOL

Cool car. You def got a good deal. I just bought back my 89 GT that I sold in 03. I owned the car for 10 years ..... I regretted selling it but I got it back!!! It's in bad shape. Good luck with the car!! I'll be checking in here to see the progress and get some ideas for mine.

Nice! I had an 90' LX 5.0/5-speed in college... those motors are bullet proof... mine had 190,000 and took every bit of punishment I dished out.... including topping off the oil with ATF when money was tight and thieves running the car for god knows how long with no fan after stealing it in front of my apartment...lol... even after they gutted it, I regretted selling it after it was recovered.
Good Luck with the build!

So, you're not happy with the paint job? Who did it? I'm in Maryland and the guy who did my body work is fantastic with very reasonable labor rates.

A guy in Chambersburg, PA. His name was Brad Martin. Do not let him touch your car. i trade a wrecked '88 ttop with plus $2k cash on top. I got screwed big time. It took him 7 months to do it. My car was barely running when I got fed up and decide to pull my car out of his shop.
There is orange peel everywhere, different shade of bad paint in couple area and etc.
I plan to have a local guy who has been in the business for many years repaint it when I am done with everything else and I am sort of trying to enjoy the bad paint while it last. It is slowly flaking off anyway. Anyway this guy s name's Joe and his shop is in Frederick. I have seen couple of cars he has done. It s amazing! He is priced really reasonable.

Seeing that car brings back some memories. In 1989, at the age of 19, I bought a brand new LX five point slow. It was the same light blue color with the gray interior. I thought I was the bomb...I put 5000 miles on that car in the first 5 weeks that I owned it. Good times.
Best of luck with the project.

Sorry for not updating for so long....
I have been letting my mustang sit in the garage for awhile. I sent it to the shop for head gasket gasket swap since it was overheating. They fixed it. I was mad excited but then the same issue pop back up. Its safe to say I have a crack block or head somewhere. Instead of spending the money on this junk engine that i already could have bought a new crate engine by now. I am going to apart it out and start saving for a brand new drivetrain.
My other struggle was not having a truck. Until last weekend :), I bought a new 2003 Lightning with only 63k on the clock and couple good mods for a reallly good deal.
upper is 2.93
lower is 4lbs
Magnum Power, mp tensioner
Accufab Throttle body
Gatorback serpentine belt (From RPM Performance)
Extra Large LFP water to air intercooler
Bassani Cat-back
Bassani off-road mid-pipe
Modified Light switch - Driving Light w/Fogs on
LFP Valve Body
Metco Idler Pulley
Steig Stage 5 blower
Valve body line mod
anderson motorsports power pipe
SCT BA-2600
SCT handheld
Now time to save up for a new drivetrain and keep a look out for a wrecked BUILT mustang, that i can part out and make some money back too. Whooo whooo.. while I wait, i am gonna have fun in my lightning!

My plan from this point for the mustang is-
1. new drivetrain
2. roll my fenders since it is hitting the 18x10 tires and ripping the shreds when it bounces.
3. alignment
4. new paint ( i know it looks so good in the pictures, it s 10 footer)
5. new interior
Any donation would be appreciated :)
Nice find. I wouldnt mind having a Lightning, especially in that color. Looks great.
I had a 99 F-150 XLT w/5.4, looked Like a Lightning but had no SCer. That was a fun truck. Hotchkis suspension, RUslow panhard bar, Metco LTLs, Kooks LTs and Maggy exhaust never mind all the bolt-ons. I miss that truck. Sorry for blah blah blah.
Nice truck man.

Sitting pretty high now. I am going to get busy with the enginebay.. shave it or at least clean it up and paint it.

Time to make room for the new motor. I am still unsure to go 4.6 route backed by 6 speed since it will be more street efficentive.

I got a bit way too distract with my lightning truck. Here is some process on the truck. I am hoping to acquire a 1998 cobra that was wrecked with supercharger and put it in this ttop. We will see how the deal pans out.
Anyway, here is some lowered lightning truck pics and new 20' replicas.

I regret to inform you... I sold my '88 t-top couple months ago... I wind up focusing on my Lightning. I will get other mustang and fully do it right the next time.
Since then.. I have c-notch, put offroad bassani exhaust, put couple little mods into my engine and got it tuned. Here is some pictures of my truck in the process while lowering it.
I am going to get hotchkins sway bar, so i can take it to road courses.
