It's always cool to see that a restoration will make a car like it just rolled off the assembly line, as far as how clean it's going to be, not the pro-touring modifications. lol
Pictures always make welding a car together out of reproduction metal look SO easy, but how is everything fitting for you? I had a hell of a time getting parts to fit worth a damn on our '69 firebird convert. Full floorpan, and firewall extensions so far. Left me wondering if everyone else goes through the same thing, or if I just got some junk parts...lol

Wow, one HECKVA project bud - good on you! Since you had no reference points for anything behind the cab - how do you get/keep everything aligned and make sure it's not off when it's all welded up?
67speedfreak
10-26-2011, 06:43 AM
Josh, yeah none of the repro parts are perfect. There is a lot of tweaking involved, but for the most part I have been pretty happy with the fit ! So in answer to your question your not alone ! :)

Glad it's not just me then! lol
The first time I set the floor in place, I could stick my fingers in between the floor and the rockers the gap was so wide. I was like..."How the hell am I supposed widen the floor to close that up?!" haha

Looking real, real good! Only explanation I can come up with for the holes may be an attempt at custom upper coilover mounts?? I'd appreciate any inside pics of how you went about smoothing the firewall, did you butt weld your panel in or leave a lip and lap over it?
Specifically I'm after a passenger side (in your terms haha) rear quarter and complete tailgate...with all the fuss going on at the moment can you suggest a good Dynacorn dealer who'll deliver?
67speedfreak
04-11-2012, 10:38 AM
Thanks Chris
There should be pics on my website of the firewall smooth. I left a small flange at the top and but welded the rest.
I am a Dynacorn Dealer and can get the parts but not experianced at shipping to New Zealand ?
Thanks , Brian

On another note ! What do you guys think of the Color of the control arms and front sway bar ? I am thinking of having it stripped and powdered a different color. Not really diging it !
This is the only color Chassis Works offers for these parts trying to see if we can change that but it doesn't sound promising.
Thanks, Brian

Here is the wheel we are thinking about running. Ours will have a black or gray center instead of the gold in the pic ! We will be running 18x8 in front and 18x10 in the rear.
We wanted something vintage looking but modern at the same time if that makes any sence at all. :)

With the chassis out of the way it is time to wrap up the body!
Preping body and quarters for install. I also had to do alot of work around the gas door area. I had to graft in the original door opening and inner structure, the repro were off and the fuel door opening was too large.

So, you put Dynamat + sprayed bedliner over it?
Should really quiet things down!
FRENCHBLUE72

Looks like you guys undercoated over the dynamatt?? Im kinda new at the whole replace repair panels. Does it just seal everything up or does it make it quieter?
67speedfreak
12-28-2012, 11:06 AM
I added the Dynamat to qiet things down because the panels are so large I didn't want the tin can effect. Just added the undercoat to seal it up and add a little extra protection.
The panels sound 3' thick now !
Thanks,

Here's a little update on the Elky !
New Intro Custom Wheels ordered. 18x9 275 front and 18x10 295 rear.
Motor is finished. One of the cast heads was cracked so we upgraded to a set of Edelbrock aluminums.
With the new upgrades motor should put out about 500hp.
Here are a couple pics.

Here is a little update on our ElCamino build.
I just got the doors and front sheet metal back on and making final adjustments.
I had to skin 8 inches of the bottom of each door do to rust and repair the inner shells in a couple places.
Just got the new Ron Davis Radiator in today, Really nice !

We got the Vintage Air front runner installed.
I am currently working on gaps. I had to shink the repro hood because it was way to tight.
Also welding up the fenders to tighten the door gaps at the top.

I finished up the Elky exhaust today, just have to cut the tips back.
You can also see in the pictures that I modded the trans cross member for more clearance.
