Have a Ididit column. I see that the column shaft is smaller dia. than the stock shaft, therefore the stock camaro floor mount bracket now has slop. Is there a different bracket I need to get?

Did you get the right column? Installed mine and bolted right up.........with a different coupler for a new steer gear-

Bought it from a guy on here, said it was for 68 camaro. It bolts up under the dash fine

I had the same issue with the firewall bracket when I installed my new Ididit column and was pretty upset because it is advertised as a direct replacement for the stock column. Since I was not happy with Ididit for the misleading advertising, I was not in the mood to buy the pricey bracket they offer. So I just wrapped the column with a strip of old inner tube rubber which took up the slack and also acts like a vibration damper. At some point I may get the correct bracket from Ididit but the rubber wrap works great for the time being.

that was exactly what i was thinking. If i would have known this didn't work i would have went with GM tilt. Direct replacement should be direct replacement not direction replacement but....

I was either going to add metal to the firewall bracket or once i have the position of the steering column wrap the column.

Possibly something like this. Get it thicker so it smashes really tight

That foam might work but I think you need a wider strip. I cut my strip 1" wide.

Yup I ended up wrapping the column with a flat piece of rubber I had laying in the shop. Worked good enough.

Ended up ordering a 4 ply 2" intercooler coupler. Ill cut it to about a 1" and then slide it on. Nice clean solution for $5

Is this the retro fit column for the 68?

I had the same exact problem. I called ididit and they sent me a plastic sleeve which slid on the column and made it the factory size.

The 2" intercooler coupler worked fine. I just had to get longer screws to center the column so they pinched together
