Father and Son 67 camaro PT build

Well, my dad bought me a 67 camaro back in march for us to build. little did we realize it would turn into such a project. when we first purchased the car(from a guy, now my dads friend who he reguarly hangs out with) from a few houses down the street. we rolled it into our garage till we could make some room for it at my dads body shop. we began tearing everything down and soon came to realize we would need to replace practically all the body panels.502205022550224502235022250221

Once we got it to the shop. we set it on an old frame machine and clamped the pinch weld in 4 places to help brace the body when we started to cut off body panels. WE removed pactically everything off the body. We replaced both the trunk floor and the cab flkoor.5030350304503055030650307

Boy, I feel your pain! My 'vert has been in my family for 18 yrs and it still amazed me at how rusted it was underneath.

next we started on the roll cage. not too many progress shotsa. were also not quite done with it

next up is the dash. we wanted to do something a little custom but not stop to over the top. again not to many progress shots, still some welding is needed to be done.

After working on the dash some we wanted to get the rear quarters on and tacked into place along with the rear panel

soon after that a few parts showed up. the seats were a birthday present, a little ways frm needing them but still a great present. We also took order of the DSE 4-link suspension, front valence, front inner wheels wells and a few other v arious brackets. well the pictures dont seem to be loading for those.

Laextreme - Before welding in the mini-tubs/wheel houses, did you guys fit the quarter panels? I need to install the complete inner and outer assemblies, but I was weary on just fitting it in there and welding it up without first having the quarter panels to see if the lip was going to sit where it needed to sit to make a nice, flush fit. I'd kill myself if I went to weld the quarters on and there was an inch gap there or something. lol

btw- nice Car-O-Liner portable rack! lol I've been a body man and in the business for 14 years now.

Dang....AND I see you have the new style Car-O-Liner resistance welder! We have an older model at our shop, and it's always crapping out on us. The car-o-liner guy dropped off that new style as a loaner a few weeks ago (probably to try and get us to upgrade to it haha). It's alright I guess. Can't stand how huge and bulky the head is now that is has the transformer built in, and it's a PITA to change heads, but it DOES weld super nice.

well my dad got it to use at the shop but were using it on the camaro to make life easier. its super easy to use. turn it on, press the trigger to calibfrate the tip and your good to go, does all the settings by itsself.

yes we had the rear qurters in and off about a dozen times getting the wheel tubsd and fender to line up.

Cool, that's what I was thinking I'd need to do.

Did you guys just fit the doors to the quarters before tacking them in place? Or did you assemble basically the whole car; sub frame, core support, fenders, hood, then doors to make sure everything fit?

We threw on the doors and front fenders to line up the rear quarters

small update. few more parts came in the other day. DSE coilovors for the rear, door skins(took forever!!), some work on tucking the rear bumper in, and a little more work on the dash. seems pictures arent working again. will try to sort that out

How's the quality on the skins? I was contemplating repairing the doors we have for our Firebird to save cost, but I'm leaning towards skinning them because they'd be mud top to bottom, edge to edge. lol

honestly i didnt get a good look at them as i was only home for the weekend and just passed by to sey hey to my dad. (in college and live on campus) so i cannot comment on the quality or fit.

well heres a small update. did a little more on the cage. put some smaller tubing attaching to where the skocks mount to on the underside of the crossmember to the roll cage, welded in a piece of sheetmetal in the passenger floor where it was rusted out. we got the rear end painted and in the truck to the house to get it out the way till we need it. also did a little more welding on the dash also a bunch of misc. pictures of parts we have for the car. sorry for the poor qualtity photos i keep forgetting my digital camera and all i ever have on me is my ipad. i promise better pictures for the upcoming updates

well its been a while since imupdated this lol i have been busy with work and school, plus it doesnt help that i kept forgetting to bring the camera to take pictures. we finally got the rest of the floor patched up after having to replace the entire floor. the passenger footwell well was rusted out and it didnt come on the replacement fllor panel. we just used some sheetmetal from a door of a silverado that got wrecked in the side we were going to trash. We decided to patch up where the vynil pad was on the dash to give it a smooth more modern look to it. we aslo finished weldingn up the roll cage to the undersidwe of the dash to make it look flush as if it came like that from the factory. we finally got around to shaving the door handles on the new outer door skins, but once we went to weld them on the the inner door shell we came across a problem...we had bought to driver side outer skins, so needless to say the extra one will prolly wind up have something cool painted up and hung up in our pool table room at home lol anyways next we started work on sucking in the bumper ends to close up those old stock large gaps these cars have, just to make it look cleaner and more modern ( if you havent gottenthe hint its a very modern build ha) needless to say the second side took a quarter of the time as it was our first time attempting something like this. once we finished the work on the fenders we cut 3/4' out of each side of the bumper to match the inset on the fenders, as of now we have yet to modify the center brackets to suck the bumper to the rear of the car to match the side clearnce on the fenders. before when i tried to upload pictures of the seats i got for my birthday the didnt want to load so ill try it again. also i included a picture of our home made rotisserie, its not pretty but it does its job, makes working on the bootom and lower sides SO much easier. ok enough talk onto the pictures which is what everyone wants to see. also i included some pictures of what i think is a 70-71 mach 1 mustang that was at the shop getting a detail job for a customer

Liking the pro car seats..... what model are they?

The model is the sportsman pro. over the past few days i have been thinking about possibly building my own door panels. well tonight i put pen to paper, well pencil and drew out a design. Granted its still a ways of from being time to install door panels, i enjoy drawing and designing things so, made sense to design my own. Heres a picture, whatcha think?
