For Sale - pair of LSx style 4.8/5.3 cylinder heads.

These came off of a core return engine from my work. The engine had about 80,000 mi on it when it wiped a lobe off the cam. Rather than repair it, the shop elected to replace the whole engine. I bought the long block for parts and don't need the heads since I have a set LS1 heads that I'm going to use instead. They are in GREAT shape and it is evident that the oil was changed on regular intervals since it was one of our fleet vehicles. The engine was a 4.8 out of a 2004 short bed Chevy pickup.

They are located in Wrens, Ga - local pickup preferred but will ship

Pictures will be provided if requested

I'm asking $250 or best offer plus shipping for the pair - please make an offer if you're interested! I'd really like to clean these out of my garage!

If you happen to come across another head that is cracked or damaged I would take it. I need to cut the head on the intake runners so I can do some measurements to see how far I can go with a set of heads im porting for someone before I have to get mad scientist and move the ports.

I emailed the shop foreman to see if maybe we have one that's scrap. If we do, I could probably get it to you for the cost of whatever it would sell for as aluminum scrap plus shipping. I'll let you know. So you're looking to do some crazy stuff with the heads? Just curious - what are you planning to do?

I need to see how far back I can cut the short turn radius to give the window of the port the highest entry angle. Maybe even getting real crazy and doing some port moving, but that GS14 classified until its finished. Haha

Cool! You need a set to experiment on then - you should buy mine! :)

BTW, they weigh 24 lbs each for anyone who wants to know. Also, there's a bolt broken off in one of the exhaust ports that I didn't remember being there. It's hanging out about a 1/4" so I hope I can get it out tonight!

How about $150 for the pair plus shipping? It looks like the going rate on eBay is between $150 to $200 for a good set of reman heads. These heads are low mileage gen IV heads. Please remember above there is a bolt broken off in one of the exhaust port holes hanging out about a 1/4". I have not tried to get it out yet due to just not having time to mess with it. When I got them out I noticed the springs had some surface rust on them - figure anyone looking to buy these should plan to replace the springs anyway since the stock springs will not handle any kind of a performance cam at all from what I've read. Questions - please ask!

What is the casting number on the heads?

The 3 digit code on the heads is 862. They are a matched set.

I messed with the broken bolt tonight - it's going to take a drill press and a bolt extractor to get it out.
