No matter your opinion of the man you cannot deny that he was the last of the great product executives in American history and his visions led to innovations that not only changed our lives but changed the world. Ivy League Colleges don't make people like Steve Jobs, they just sort of sprout up out of nowhere and you have to make the most of them while they are here. He truly was the last of his kind. Mark my words, you will NEVER see another one like him again in your lifetime.

56 years was all he got....and boy did he make the most of it.

Goodbye Steve, and thank you.

I have to agree, Tony. His live was a world changing existence. His family should be very proud.
I can relate to your "56 years was all he got" statement. I will be 56 in December and there is butt load of things I still want to do. I hope I have the opportunity to do some of them... Kind of brings you down to ground...

Steve Jobs was one of those rare individuals that come along. He had an ability to see what the market needed and then made it happen for the most part. Jobs and Steve Wozniak (the computer genius behind the original Apple) have changed the face of the earth like few others could ever do. Here are a few in Steve Jobs teritory.

Wozniak (never gets the credit for Apple he deserves)
Nickola Tesla (talk about not getting credit)
Edison
Westinghouse (the Steve Jobs of Electrication)
Henry Ford
Durant
Firestone
Goodyear
Alex Bell

These are just a few, notice that most of them made there mark a hundred years ago? We don't seem to have the Tesla or the Jobs anymore. Lets hope that changes.

Crazy that he was working so hard right up to the end. Money cant buy you health, cancer is one nasty sob.

I saw a quote today that fit very well... Eugene Kaspersky said this morning: "The man who invented the wheel didn't change the world...the man who got a stick and attached two wheels, he changed the world. Steve Jobs, he was the man with the stick."

Steve Jobs, thanks for the best desktop word processor years ahead of the rest, the music, the cool design in tech, the advances in film (pixar), the ability to carry my entire collection of CDs in my pocket, talk on a video conference in my hand, check an address on a map, and then get on one of the 1,000s of apps available to do stuff, check on my car, start it, then catch my e-mail, stocks, etc, etc.
updated from my iPhone.

A little bit funny and a little bit scarey.
