I want to do a set of heated and cooled seats. Has anyone done anything yet? Any suggestions on which seats to even use?

Planning to but not yet. I forget now which company I'll be buying the parts from, have a link at home. I'll see if I can find it.

I'm planning seat heaters. Bought the kits from summit racing for around $110 per seat. Would love to do heat and cool as I have this in my Infiniti now. I wasn't aware that there were kits to do this. Anyone have more info?

Do those cooled seats work on the same principle as one of those 12v coolers?....where if the polarity is in one direction the air is chilled, and if polarity is the other direction, it heats the air?
I've seen heating elements for the heated only seats.

All of the seats we have messed with that are "cooled" just have sort of an electric computer fan hooked up to them, far from amazing.
Also if you are paying 110 a seat for heating kits you are paying too much, we can get you much better deals.

Some of the higher end luxury cars with "cooled" seat actually are cooled, not just fan driven air flow. They use a semiconductor called a Peltier element which gets cold when current flows through it in one direction and warms
when the current flow is reversed. I believe some of the 12v coolers use this same technology. I've sat in the seats and you do notice a cool feeling but I doubt all the trouble to put it into one of our cars is worth it so long as you have a good A/C system. Plus, there's a pretty elaborate ducting system to get the air circulated evenly around the seat that would take up a fair amount of space, not to mention fabricating it.

Well i know that Recaro uses a fan in all of their cooled seats. I have two here now, its really hard to notice when on.

I didn't get a chance to find my link. the one I'm planning is a fan as well.
EDIT: here is the link

The 12v cooler that I was speaking of has a heatpump (of sorts) type technology....it has an aluminum heat sink and a fan...from what I can tell, the direction of air flow across the heat sink either heats the interior of the cooler or cools the interior of the cooler by a little more than 20°F-40°F difference than the ambient. By unlugging the plug, flipping the plug over and plugging it back in...you change the polarity and change the direction of the air flow to either heat or cool.

I was in my friends BMW and she had heated/cooled seats this was last summer. It made a difference in the heat, epically with shorts on. Felt pretty damn cool.
