I found this ad locally in Texas for a 73 Z28/RS with a small block 350 and 400 transmission. He is asking 17k for it. It looks like the interior and paint could use some work. What do you guys think. Is 17k a fair price. I was thinking more like 14-15k.

Looks pretty good! I have a 73 RS /Type LT Z/28 as well and his is a very nice example.
There are some details that need to be dealt with but I see this example of a nice driver and weekend toy but not a true showpiece.

Are you looking for an original car or one to play with and modify?

$17K isn't bad but I think that you could get the price down a little...

I am looking for a good solid base to play with and modify. Nothing original. I would like to have a nice weekend toy. Once in my possession we will see where it goes.

Gogo,

IMO, that car is closer to what someone who wants a nice original example of that particular model, would look for. It will take additional work to be a completely clean, original show car.

That's not to say that you can't buy it, pull off the original parts and make changes that could be reversed if you decided to return it to original.

As I stated previously, I see it more as a weekend toy and driver so it could be the perfect starting point for your desires.

I would say around 14k is fair.

If its numbers matching, then its worth 15k. That car is too original, and you're throwing money away if you want to modify it. You can pick up a 73 camaro that isnt stock, in great shape for under 8k.

The 73 Z/28 did not have the good LT-1 Motor of 1970 and 1971..

So, if you are going to modify it, save your money and buy a regular camaro for half the price.

If you are buying a numbers matching 70 or 71 with the screaming LT-1, you will pay 20k plus..

I am modifying my Car but leaving the factory LT-1 and close ratio M-21..It has the screaming engine...

Best of both worlds.

For you, a Regular camaro gives you the options for LS motors, or whatever.. IMHO
