I've been visiting the forum for a few days and have been trying to find info on an A Body pro touring car.

Because I haven't found anything I'm wondering if there is a downfall to building an a body (such as a 63 Impala/BelleAir/Biscayne). Their frames are a little funky, maybe this has something to do with it?

Any info and opinions would help, thanks!

Welcome to the community Russo There are a lot of A body pro touring cars on here! I am building a 72 Chevelle. Just need to do some more searches on the site.

I have found a wealth of information on A body's on this forum. Now as for the older A body's I haven't ran across to many other than some 64/65 chevelles. But keep looking and you can also take a look at lateral-g.net for even more pro touring cars.

haven't the Impalas always been "B" bodies?

Impalas/Caprices/Biscaynes are B-bodies. Chevelles/Malibus are the Chevy A-Bodies.

The "B" platform ran from '59 to '96. So your Impala is a B body.
Your Impala is no more dare to "B" different than my Astro... :)

You need to do some chassis strengthening on those X frame cars....I had a 63 Canadian Pontiac (Chevy frame) that the previous owner fitted a BBC and a torque chain to the chassis rail...he succeeded in twisting the frame around the centre of the X....very subtle twist, but you could see it looking down the side of the car.
