On Oct. 5 The Car Show hosted by Adam Carolla, Dan Neil, and Matt Farah will feature a muscle car segment. In the show will be Adam Driving the Hotchkis E-Max Challenger, Matt driving Julius' own personal Superbird (super cool car), and Dan Neil driving my Camaro.
The in-studio filming took place a few weeks ago with the Superbird front-and-center on stage. It looked awesome under the studio lights. The studio audience, and those of us lucky enough to be invited into the Avocado Room for the filming, got to see the rough-cut of the on-track footage taken on the Big Track at Willow Springs. It was very cool to see these three cars out on the track together. How often does anyone get to see a genuine Superbird on a road course going fast?
So tune in next Wednesday @ 10:00pm EDT to the Speed Channel to see some pretty cool footage of old iron at work.

I thought this might be the case when it was mentioned that Dan Neil drove the Camaro in the Hotchkis track day recap. I had no idea it would be this soon though.
This is slightly off topic but does anyone have any info on the Mustang that was also at the event? I really like the stripe kit and would like to see better pics of it.

That's Michael Heintz's Mustang. He beats that thing like a rented mule and it keeps on ticking. The new 5.0 is a really good car with just a few mods thrown at it. There was a Boss 302 there that day as well. What a great car. Hopefully GM gets on the ball and has something to compete against it.
Though Dan may not have the grease-under-your-nails persona, he is one of the most well-versed car guys out there. We talked for quite a while before he went behind the wheel of the Camaro. He understood and respected where the car came from. There's not that many guys out there. I was blown away by his comments on the car given his pedigree behind the wheel. I thought it would get blasted based on what he normally deals with. That same day I drove a new Jaguar XKR on the big track. It is everything from an engineering standpoint that we in the PT world strive for. Handling, braking, comfort, sexy, etc. But it's so good at disconnecting the driver from an NVH standpoint that it lacks the soul that we have in our cars. That is something that you just can't buy.

That is one thing I have found about the new 5th Gen Camaro and even my Z06 .
I feel more isolated and disconnected from the powertrain , clutch , and road feel ..

Car looked great out there!.. Now go wipe all the "Dan Neil" off the interior before you trade it in for a Prius.

X2, car looked great Carl! Wish the segment was longer. Man, Corolla jacked that whole deal up with the Mustang, I wanted to see what kind of lap times it would turn.

Nah. She's a cupcake. ;-)
I thought the expletives were pretty cool, but I had to explain to my eight-year old what the bleep was.
It's great to see the car on-track from those perspectives. I never get to see it that way!
Thanks to everyone for the complimets.

<crosses fingers that I set it up correctly>

Very nice Carl, appears to me Chevrolet came out on top, old and new! Good to see PT cars getting more exposure on TV.

all but one of the cars were Hotchkis set-ups. Would be nice to see a show that pits all the big suspension companies against each other, especially if they can all use the same car, same drivetrain and even the same driver to test. I know it will never happen, but would be interesting to see. Overall though it was a good show and cool to see the PT cars out there

On the new, I think we would have seen a far different result had someone who knew how to drive been behind the wheel. Maybe Carolla needs to get a "Stig"!

The Mustang is an animal, definately the fastest car out of the six.
The Super Chevy Suspension Challenge is the closest thing out there right now for a head-to-head comparision. It allows each manufacturer to choose what gun to bring to the fight.

Carl – This made for a great episode! We had a great time and it was nice to see Hollywood at work. :) The coolest part of the whole process was watching Dan Neil, the auto columnist for the Wall Street Journal, who gets to drive everything from the latest Lambos and Bugattis to Ferraris and more, loudly exclaim several times that Carl’s Camaro was the best car he has ever driven. That’s saying something – great job Carl.

awesome job Carl..great to hear Dan say that he loved the car..and as he should..!!

The 'bird was driven very conservatively by Matt, and deservedly so. It's an awesome car, but it's not designed for a road course. As far as the Challenger goes, I think it will take at least another dozen track days together to find out for sure which one is faster ;-) Adam pushed the E-max pretty hard.
The shots where the cars were filmed by a camera car are all very controlled. The shots from the side of the track where the cars look like the are going fast are where the hosts pushed harder. Each guy had the track to themselves during the faster portions.

Congrats!! I was impressed with how much Dan Neil loved your car. As was stated earlier, for a guy that gets to drive all the world-class stuff he seemed to genuinely enjoy your Camaro. Good job!

Really enjoyed seeing a buddies car on TV and Carl, I was thrilled for you to here it so roundly praised by a guy who gets to drive the best of the best for a living.
If I catch wind of any other PT.com cars on the show I'll watch. Otherwise, "The Car Show" won't remain in my DVR queue.
