Hello everyone,
I am nearly done developing Billet E-body hood hinges and was hoping someone could answer a question or two.
Does anyone know the weight of the factory '70 Challenger Hood? How about the fiberglass after-market ones?
I am trying to size the gas springs with the company that sells them.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Shut the front door!!!!! Someone is making E-body stuff. Praise the Lord.
I wish I could help you on the weights. My AAR Cuda hood is fiberglass pretty light. Challenger fiberglass hoods should be nearly the same since it is only 4" longer. It's about 45-55 lbs. You can contact the manufacturer and ask them

Thanks. I looked them up and they are only a couple hours away in Cocoa. Looks like maybe a road trip...

You might also hant to check out Cuda-Challenger.com. There are a lot of E body enthusiasts over there that might have the info and maybe some future sales.

I'd think you want to have the hinges mounted on actual car and determine which struts would work the best. Send me a pair for Cuda,I'll try them;)

If I can find a scale I will try to measure one for you tomorrow. How much are those hinges going to be?

Thanks Stefan, I will keep you mind :)
78silverz28 - I would really appreciate it. Anything close will help us get started.
And yes they are heavy. I also make them for the new challenger and camaro and it is soooo much easier to install a set on those cars with the 2 pound hood.
(just not as cool)

Hope you recoup your development costs. Too pricey for me right now though. I'm trying to get something else to go into production at the moment.

I bought mine about 6 months ago... He does them in batches so you need to contact him direct
They are nice... My one negative comment.... The piece that bolts to the hood should be thicker. It's pretty thin and you can easily bend it with you fingers. Would have been better to make the flange 1/8 inch thicker
I would buy again....

Hey everyone,
We are in the process of relocating our shop about 2.5 hours south in Tampa.
Should be up and running in a week or two. If you would like to be on the mailing list send me a note at ted at tedbrock dot com and I will let you know when we start taking orders again. As for trunk hinges, they are the next project after the production runs start to go out.
DRJDVM's '69 : Thank you for the kind words and the suggestion. I am always working to make our products better.
Thanks again for all the support,
Ted
