We have found a "Double Hump" head that is dated Feb. -68.
We canīt ID the casting number though.

Cast#: 314793
B278

This head was mounted on a 302ci engine back in the early 70īs.
We believe it was used for a Trans Am engine.

I did a little searching and don't find the part number listed. The chambers look really big for double Hump heads or "fuelies". I looked at your pics, do these actually have the humps cast on the ends?

Yes.
Itīs not the actual head on the photo, but this is how the cast look like.
We have found only 1 cylinder head. The other one is missing.

For what I know, this cylinder head have been sitting on a Trans Am Camaro, imported to Sweden in the early 70's.
The car was built for Trans Am series in the U.S..
It had steel fender flares, crossram intake manifold, JL8 rear axle, etc., and according to history, Smokey Yunick have been involved in construction of the car/engine.

The head has 2.02" intake, 1.60" exhaust valves.
Screwed-in rocker arm studs.
Double valve springs with aluminum retainers.
Looks like some port work has been done.

3 or 4 engines came with the car, and we believe that this cylinder head may belong to the original engine.

Iīm also confused about the "pink" color between the rocker arm studs.
350 LT1 had "pink rods", so maybe the "Pink" color means something?

Could the cylinder head be a prototype?:hmm:

I think odds are good that it is, especially if Smokey was involved. I searched all my resources, and couldn't find this casting # or anything remotely close to it.
