I just dicovered that when you install a 200R4 in an A-body GM car the crossmemeber has to moved back, not an issue. However on 64-65 A-body frames, at least on the F-85 the frame is not flat where you need to re-mount the cross member. It dips down a bit. Another club memeber sent me some pictures on how he designed his cross memeber. Is there any other diagrams pictures of this procedure? Also I'm alomost certain the the frame rails on a 64-65 Chevelle are the same and maybe there is an after market source?

I haven't done one on that model, but if the frame sloping in that area is an issue, could you use a shim to level it? Something like the < shims used on leaf spring cars to correct pinion angle? Post some pics if you can and I'll try to help.

4929649295I thought about that but now I have the cross member where it needs to be and it's not long enough either.

Rocky topper I really appreciate the offer. I'm off the week before good guys I may call you and you can come out.I am going to mock up a piece of 5/16 plate put that under the cross member bringing the level up, maybe very close to the same level of the stamped out section don't know yet. The plate will extend maybe an inch inward towards the back side of the frame. I that works I will weld the plate to the cross member, fill the old bolt holes with weld and drill new mounting holes. That said if all works I may take my cutoff wheel and make two cuts into the frame rail bend it up level and weld it back? Anyway that's the thought this minute.

Instead of cutting the frame you might consider cutting the crossmember with the cutoff to slope the ends of it to match the slope of the frame you can see that in b-mans build thread here on pages 10&11

Good luck

Nice thanks a bunch for that link. Looks good. I don't have a break to correctly bend those tabs and pieces of plate. Except for the X member I guess you could bend those in the vise?
