OK, call me impatient, but I want my Camaro on the road. Here is the scoop:

I am nearly 2 years into my 69 Camaro build and am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It finally runs, shifts, and stops.

Now here is where I need some input:
I have finished all of the metal work, epoxy primed, and done all of my body filler work. My next step was going to be to shoot it with high build poly primer and block it out with 180 then 240. After that I planned to shoot it with 2K and wet sand with 400 then 600.

Now it appears that I am not going to have the money to paint it until next spring and I would really like to get out and enjoy the car this fall before it gets cold.

What can I spray over the filler (Rage Gold) to seal it so I can drive it around for a few months? It shouldn't see rain or anything, but you never know what might pop up. I know the filler and the poly primer cannot get wet - that is what I am most worried about. I thought about a good coat of black epoxy primer or even a coat of black sealer?

I want something that I can scuff up and then shoot the poly primer over top of and continue my plans. That way I can spend the winter blocking it out and getting everything ready for final paint next spring. I really don't want to have to sand it back down to my filler before starting again.

Would it hurt to spray another coat of epoxy over the filler for now - too many layers? Or is there something that would work better? Or should I just leave it in the garage for a few months and work on other things?

Sorry for the long read - I just don't want screw it up and have to redo any of the filler work and blocking I have already spent countless hours doing because I got impatient.

Thanks,
Dustin

What he said, but keep in mind you'll have to sand it down again when you get ready to paint it.

Thanks for the replies.

So would all of the epoxy need to come back off before I spray the poly primer and start blocking it out or would I just need to scuff it up well and spray over it?

You can finish all your body work, shoot high-build primer like Featherfill G2 ,block it, reduce epoxy primer and shoot few coats,it will keep your bodywork protected. There is no need to completely remove it ,just roughen it up and do what you need to do,paint or more body work.
