magnaflow exhaust

i am building a 69 ls camaro, i was wondering if anybody has the 2 1/2" magnaflow stainless dual exhaust if you were happy with the sound and quality. thanks

I have the 2.5" system on my 69 GTO, not an F-body, but it does have an LSX. System fits pretty well, sounds good with this engine combo. I had an 11:00-1 Pontiac with a stout cam in the car prior and it was quite loud.

Last week's track session @ the former F1 track Zandvoort, the Netherlands. 1967 Camaro with LS3/T56, Hooker Headers & Magnaflow SST 2-1/2" w.o. tailpipes, just dumps from the mufflers due to Watts Link. Will try this winter to modify tail pipes to fit in between everything.

Tailpipes kill about 6 DBs od noise. Dumps will make them loud. But the wind noise was so loud on that clip I could barely hear the car.

well mine was pretty mild, but loud when I got into her and I only had 2 1/4 pipes and a really mild/lame 350 in the car

I have an warmed over LS2 with 3" magnaflow and x pipe and have recieved many compliments on how good it sounds. Not to loud either.

I wonder if magna 15986 sits to low?? since I live in mexico and most of the streets are crap with lots of bumps! how about magna15985??? what s the main differnce between this two??

I just installed the 15896 on my 67. Tucks up real nice off Doug's headers and around my Hotchkis rear sway bar it's real close, but still enough room around it. Once I get my subframe connectors done probably won't even see the exhaust from the side. I will have to admit it wasn't really a simple bolt-on kit as I had to do quite a bit of minor tweaking and adjusting and initial adjusting before I committed to cutting/welding. It was my first time to install an exhaust like this and I wanted to do it right. I ended up having to modify the muffler mounts a little to work with the sway bar. Still not 100% sure what to do with the end tips as in leave them as is (angled down out the end) or install a straight out tip. But starting to lean towards just leaving them as is.

As far as the sound, it's coming off a stock Fastburn 385 and at idle it kinda has a sort of angry bee sound that I believe is due to the X-pipe, though when you step on it there is a nice rumble/growl to it. I will be changing out my cam in the future and am real curious how that will sound. The stainless pipes and polished mufflers look good under the car, though all the pictures I've seen has the Magnaflow on the muffler outlined in black and mine is all polished? Is that normal?

I bought the kit and it looks really nice in the box i do want to run the tailpipes but am really worried how to get them over my 9" with air bar & shockwaves?
