I want to ditch the old carb on my 1979 Malibu and update to the Holley Avenger EFI set up but I have never been a fan of the external fuel pump. So I was wondering if I could use a 86-88 Monte Carlo or Grand National stock tank with internal pump? this should be a direct bolt in and all I would have to do is run a power to the pump and a return line, right? Or do you see any other mods that would need to be done?

Do you know how deep the Malibu tank is?
If it is 9 to 10 inches deep, Install a 4th gen fuel pump module.
This is the fuel pump mod I am using on a 79 TA.

As long as your Malibu isn't a wagon, you could just switch out the sending unit for one with a fuel pump assembly (as found on 4.3 TBI Montes and 3.8 turbo Buicks). If you go with the Monte setup, you'll have to change to a high pressure pump, but a stock GN one or an aftermarket repalcement should be adequate. Be sure to run a good (large) power wire for the pump.
