I am trying to sell of a couple of the older cars I have. My 47 Ford street rod, the other a 55 Chevy. My problem is Connecticut does not title cars 30 years old or more. So what is a guy to do? I have CT. issued bills of sale, signed over registrations as well as a letter from CT. DMV stating they do not issue titles to cars this old.

What are some of you fellow CT. residents doing when selling your car? Am I missing something here?

For you out of staters, what does that mean to you? Would you buy a car from CT. knowing I can't supply a title, but have everything else to prove ownership? I have been told all states know that CT. does not give titles and accepts this as fact, but is that true? If looking to buy a car from me in CT. what would you want from me?

What to do.......

As long as you have bills of sale and a proper paper trail other than CT not bothering to issue an actual title it shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure whoever buys the car will need to fill out an extra form or something but their local DMV will know.

CT isn't the only state that stops issuing titles after a certain age so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I ran into this when I brought my impala back from Maine. It really wasn't a big deal. All I had to do was take the pink slip and bill of sale to the DMV and they issued a new title.
