I am starting on this project and as I am starting to strip the car, I am starting to debate highly on a paint color idea for the Firebird.

The plans are for a nice and subtle color that will hopefully not look dated within a year (or as soon as the car drives out of the paint booth :)

The interior is red, and I am actually planning to keep it that way as it has already been redone and looks new aside form the carpet. I normally lean towards gray, silver, and gunmetal or black colors, so am thinking along those lines, but hey there is a colorful world there so may be time to step out to something a bit different. I am also open to ideas on the wheels, but most likelly wil not be shinny chrome :)

The suspension will be air ride with plans for 18's all around or 18-20 combo, 400 hood.

here are a few pics of the bird, ideas greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm normally not one to like blue cars that much, but a nice medium blue metallic always looks good on Firebirds of that vintage.

Joe thanks, if you have any pics of the color, or birds of that color for ideas would be great. I always have a deep black color to fall back on :D

This is what I had in mind, though the code isn't listed. Something similar to the late '80s "IROC blue" looks good on them I think, and that color is rarely seen anymore (unlike back in the 80s, when it was very popular for just about anything).

Since you are keeping the red interior, a grey/titanium exterior would look great IMO.

DuPont paint and clearcoat
Color Code: 29Y
Color Name: Titanium Metallic Gray
For being a simple grey car, it has taken many awards. The paint is amazing in light.

If you lean towards a red, I also like GM Metallic Firethorn red:

Good luck on deciding on a color, that has to be the hardest part.

Look up an original Pontiac color called brewster green, mix in a touch of metal flake and it will look absolutely insane with the black top and interior.

Corvette Cyber Gray Metallic would look great with a red interior.

Definitely my favorite Vette of all time, and since I'm a water skier, I'll throw up my favorite matching boat of all time.

Don't totally nix the blue just because of a red interiorhttps://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/09/hppp_1005_01_o1974_pontiac_trans_amadmir-1.jpg

Red Int?

How about Mint Green! j/k

Figure on something neutral: Black, Charcoal, Silver, or White

OR possibly a metallic tan??

White with the '69 Trans Am stripe. Classy that is not overdone.

My dad had a 96 vette that was white with "whore red" interior as my mom liked to call it. NEVER liked white cars until that one, makes the interior pop...Really nice combo

Im also leaning towards the grey/silver/gunmetal those would look good too

Blue with the red interior is HOT! I love it in the boat above, and in person and it's amazing!
