Just got back from a trip to Boston to see a buddy of mine compete in Red Bull Cliff Diving. I have never really been around diving and other than knowing my friend Steve does it for a living I haven't a clue what is going on.
I did learn a lot about it and gained an understanding of why it's so hard and so few people can last in the sport. Hazards of the game when hitting water at approaching 60mph from 92ft in the air include getting knocked out, getting an H2O ball tap equal to about 100lbs/inch, ramming into the bottom, or over/under rotating and ending up old fashioned hurting for several days.
Anyway, highlight reel courtesy of Red Bull. http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Video/Red-Bull-Cliff-Diving-Boston--Video-Highlights-021243070839859
I'm one of the guys in the black and gold Bue Crew t-shirts during the intro. My buddy is Steve Lobue, he finished 5th overall.
