how many pistons are you looking for? rotor size? What kind of driving?
You can do everything from single piston to 6 piston on varying budgets from 500 and up.
do you need a parking brake too? Small bearing 9" or big bearing 9" ?
I'd have to agree with the other guys on this thread. It is kind of dependant on what you ultimately want. I personally feel the corvette route is the way to go, and am in the process of putting things together. If this is something you are going to follow up on, I would seriously call tobin and talk to him before you buy your kit. after all...it is what he does.

I have not driven anything bigger/heavier than my Camaro with the corvette brakes but I have to say that for a street car, they work remarkably well. I have a 15/16" master and vacuum power brakes and I absolute love the feedback, balance and capability of the system.

I used ford explorer rear brakes (12 inch rotors) on my chevelle and they worked great. They have single piston calipers and internal drum emergency brakes. They also use the explorer emergency brake cables that work in the stock location and hook up to the factory e brake cables. They are a direct bolt on for ford 9 inch big bearing (Torino) housing ends. You have to redrill the rotor for the gm pattern but that is easy with a drill press. They do look a little small behind a 18/19 inch wheel but work good. They work great with c5 front set up. I do have a full new set of c5 fronts and ford explorer rear for sale, hint hint.

The explorer brakes are a common low dollar but great rear brake conversion for the 9".
I have some cadillac 11" rotor (seville/eldorado) brakes (another low dollar fix) on my large bearing 9". Inexpensive, integrated parking brake, common parts. I use an adjustable proportioning valve and cant set it for full on braking because it will lock the rear brakes. Plenty of braking for my STREET car but 13" rotors are available if needed for 100 bucks more. And I have some decent wilwood brakes up front. JR
600 bucks from ECI... http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/rear_discbrake_conversions.html

If you need 4-piston calipers, you could do the C6 Z06 rear brakes with 340mm x 26mm [13.4" x 1.02"] rotors. Since sizing the rear brakes should be done in conjunction with the front brakes, I'll be the one to ask...so what brakes are you running up front? Unless you're doing this strictly for looks, I would think that you'd want a rear kit to balance the front and provide the most value in terms of performance and aesthetics for your dollar, or bang-for-the-buck as you said.

I attended the Kohler vintage race at Road America this summer. I spoke to one of the racers hanging our w/ the Edelbrocks about his T/A Mustang. He was running '65-66 Mustang front calipers in the rear (big K/H Lincolns up front). They fit under 15" wheels and must work well. Not sure who makes the mounts for a set up like this or how to fit an emergency brake caliper but I'm fully looking to do this.

Either you could find Corvette brake parts and piece together a kit and get the brackets from Kore3, or pony up the cash for a complete Kore3 kit. IMO, anything less than 13" rotors doesn't look good inside wheels that big.

I agree. With large wheels a small 11" rotor looks like its undersized. And for looks it is. But for performance you wont ever use a massive brake on the rear for street use. The front does most of the braking and you can easily drag the rear tires with a smaller setup in the back.
NOW!! Thats for a street car that is even driven hard. For track use the only advantage with having a larger (read heavier un-sprung weight) braking system at the rear is to ensure you will have consistent braking and brake fade doesn't interfere with your consistent track times..
I dont have a problem with folks wanting massive brakes on the rear of their street car. Some folks choose brakes for looks, some choose them for performance. Thats the great thing about cars. You can do ALL sorts of modifications to suit your needs. I happen to like the performance side of cars. Prolly cause I cant afford the show side of the car ownership :) JR

If I had my choice with wheels your talking about got to kore3 sight, email or pm tobin. appogee(sp) is his screen name. for bang for buck, ability to locate parts on short notice(ie dealer if needed ) Corvette would be my choice, you also can get parts from NAPAonline too.
C6Z51 C6 Z06 are the two bigger if I remember correctly one is 13+ the other is actually 14in for the fronts. The bigger Vette stuff is really easy to swap pads out for track days and Hawk and others make several types of pad compounds for them.
To me exotic aftermarket might make it harder to locate emergency parts, nothing against Wilwood or Baer its just sometimes locating parts takes a few days.
In back it would depend on the bolt pattern for the backing plate to bolt too is, but I am sure Tobin has or can fix you right up.
NOW if you want to be able to dragrace and use 15 in rear wheels with slicks then look at the S15/Blazer 2wd or 4wd parts. I have been looking for a company to make larger diameter rotors for that rotor and use an adapter bracket to move the caliper out so it fills the wheel well, then all you need to do to drag is unbolt adapter plate, slip on the stock type rotor and tada two sizes but uses same caliper and the Pbrake can work too.
Also there is the mid 2000s Caddy STS it has 11 in rear brakes with real thick rotors from my looking at the take of parts I have from sister in laws 05 STS. The hub is same siz and if the hub/axle isnt too large all that would be needed is to open up the bolt holes maybe. Just thinking.

I was at Fall Carslile recently and picked up a NIB set of Corvette C6 Z06 front and rear calipers for $900. I was planning on Baer brakes but just could not pass up the price so plans changed. I will be contacting Tobin at Kore3 shortly for the rest of the parts I need. Now I know $900 is not a common price but I have seen these same calipers on ebay for $1245 so they can be had for reasonable prices.
