I've had my mind set on a vintage air frontrunner based on all of the positive things I've heard (and the fact that I have a vintage air A/C unit) but as I'm about to pull the trigger, I'm having doubts--

In OE applications, the belts always wrap around the balancer as much as possible. Looking at the VA setup, the beltdoesn't even appear to cover half of it, which might be fine for a little driving, but I think that on the track it would lend itself to slippage.

March seems to have coverage a little better, but still not great:

My restrictions are LS6 engine w/AC and PS, Heidt's first Gen subframe. So the accessories can't be hung too low. Anyone got any ideas?

I've been looking at the wegner, but it looks like the PS pump hangs a bit too low.

I'm not a fan of billet specialties, so...any other options or ideas?

Thanks!

i'm working on a set up at the moment. just for my own car, but will start a thread and post pics as i get further along. it uses a remote power steering resevoir so pump is small, and alt is mounted low. based on truck water pump and crank pulley. could use car water pump and spacers though too.

The Wegner fits in the low mount position in F Bodies (rear steer cars) and also fits in the low position for F bodies with aftermarket subframes and front mounted racks.

The Wegner will also fit A Bodies with front steer in the low position.

There is also a high mount position but I have not found a application that required that position yet except on 40 Ford Street Rod we used the system

The Wegner wins the belt wrap war period and is tested to 8500 RPMs.

We are working with Wegner on a slight redesign for better clearance of all T Bodies so that the new system will clear every T body we can think of and will have these 2nd design drive systems very soon now. Of coarse the systems will share the same great belt wrap Wegner is so well known for.

Cost wise the Wegner wins also. The Wegner includes the ATI balancer and the new system will include the water pump or the water pump can be deleted. With the water pump and balancer they will be less money the VA.

The March system has good belt wrap and DOES NOT come with a balancer, but instead uses a hub adapter purchased separately and cost about the same as the Wegner.

Here is a pic of the low position PS Pump in the Bull Run Racer.

The pump on your cr should be well in front of your rack.
