Here is the 1966 GT-350 Vintage Race Car I and my friend Mark built in the late 1990's that is now for sale this weekend at Mecum in Monterey. We raced the car until 2006 when I sold the car to a racer in Florida for a lot of money. The car was much more period correct when I built & raced the car. When the Florida buyer upgraded the car with his Cup motor, Jericho transmission, later model brakes and larger tires the car went straight to the front of the pack.

There is a LONG story with this car. I hope it does sell for a lot of money!!!!

I understand the car has NEW $32,000 622 HP engine, NEW $8,000 paint, aluminum Jericho, Brembo brakes and more!

Not a good "West Coast Car" do the Vintage rules out there but one Hell of a HSR/SVRA East Coast race car!

The owner has a Lola and a Mcclaren that he is racing this weekend in Monterey. I hear this car is not coming home. Could be one Hell of a buy for a top shelf Vintage Race Car!

Sold for $60K!

Easily $100K to build that car.

Great buy especially with the fresh engine and paint!

I was watching it online, it was hard to tell, but I think he lifted the reserve at around $55k .

Looks like a lot of no sales there. But I always think that about mecum's. I don't know what they consider a high sell percent. :dunno:

A real GT350 sold for ONLY $60,000! That's nuts!

I sold my clone for $30,000.

Depends on the sale and who is there.

Mecum Florida in January was over 80%.

Mecum Indy in May was about 70%.

Well, to be fair there was not much GT350 left, everything was altered, even the TV commentator pointed out how "while the chassis was Shelby, not much else was".

Still, that car should have brought more IMHO.

VERY TRUE! This owner raised the notch performance wise to win in HSR and as is the case with most East Coast HSR cars not much GT350 is left on any Shelby Mustang that runs up front!!!!
