Those are NOT BBS. The auction says BBS LM Styled wheels. Most BBS wheels are not cheap at all. Genuine LM's will run you as much as FIKSE FM-10's, and are multi-piece wheels. Those fakes are one piece and cheaply made.
Case in point... BBS LM's (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66484&item=7981614868&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)

those should be OER "bmw" wheels which are manufactured for BMW by bbs. So the quality should be fine. The guy is asking for sub 2000 prices. He's gonna have to look at the "off" brand stuff and shy away from actual, hardcore multipeice forged rims.
Sad, but true. There is always the chance that nice wheels could be found on ebay for less. But it's harder. Thats the point I was trying to make. What else do you guys got? I know there are other, cheaper off brand wheels out there.

these are Replica RSR wheels
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
available Here (http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel_catalog.php3?wheelID=397)
for 213.00 for 17x8 so the 18s shouldnt put you too far over your budget. and they are available in custom offsets.

I know he is going to have a harder time finding these type of wheels, I was just trying to make the point that the wheels you referred to as BBS were merely replicas of an expensive multi-piece BBS wheel. And I think his statement that those are "OER" is a fallacy. My guess is those are replica wheels as BMW uses genuine BBS wheels which would end up costing a pretty penny.

it should also be noted that many "fake" BBS wheels are in fact, made by BBS, look at ASA wheels. widely noted as fakes, and sub par wheels, right?
but look at this auction. HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66484&item=7981564519&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)
this image shows the made by BBS stamp (http://i11.ebayimg.com/02/i/03/6f/26/c7_1_b.JPG)
the bottom line is, the argument that "BBS" brand name wheels are better than the "fakes" is crap. you are paying for a name. Most large name manufacturers make their own knockoffs, and thats why there are so many wheels that look alike over a broad cross section of price. its a way for the manufacturer to capitolize on all market segments.

This is partially correct. While ASA wheels are "Licensed" by BBS, they are not manufactured by BBS. They are actually manufactured in South Korea, whereas BBS wheels are manufactured in Herbolzheim, Germany.
But again, you are correct in saying some wheels you are paying for a name. The most important factor is how well they are made and the quality of materials used. If there is a an inexpensive wheel, but has a good reputation and a known history, ASA for example, then your point holds.
Quote taken from website discussing ASA manufacturing:
"By basing its quality standards around those used by BBS, in 1994 ASA became one of the first alloy wheel companies to obtain ISO9001. In 1999 ASA obtained QS9000 certification, one of the highest quality standards in the automotive industry. (ISO9001 and QS9000 are world-recognized standards for quality.)"
There are also alot of these "replica" wheels that if you looked at wrong, they would bend.
Just playing devil's advocate here....

noone is fighting. lol. its just a common misconception, that company x makes knockoffs of company y. all the while, company Y owns company x.
BMW wheel bolt patters will fit your gm ride.
the bolt circle on a bmw is 5x120mm gms 5x4.75 inch bolt circle translates into 5x120.6 not enough to matter. many guys on the site are running straight BMW wheels on thier cars. now, armed with this new info, you'll be more able to find the cool rims you seek.

ok http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7981459329 these are dead on exactly what i'm after.
1) edit: answered about the bolt pattern, thank ya.
2) if anybody can find a place with these wheels, but available in custom sizing and backspacing and such, i will love them forever.

unfortunatley the custom backspacing is gonna kill ya. you will have to go to the big names and pay through the nose for it.
however, all is not lost. you'll be shocked at how well some of the big bmw wheels will bolt right up. find yourself a bmw 5 or 7 series wheel and try it out.

they're apparently real big with the 4th gen f-body boys who are too poor to buy fm10s, lol. i agree, their website is junky though.
i should probably post a pic of my car to explain why i want a gold element on the wheels...

HP wheels are big with 4th gens as mentioned above. From what I've heard they're great wheels, but heavy. Tony (nineball) had a set on his 35th ss convert.
