hey guys, I'm a long time site lurker. I just finished up a render for a project car so I'd thought I'd share. I saw so many cool renders on here so I had to give it a shot.
It's a 69 coronet project car as a gift for myself after college. Its something that my dad, brother, and I are working on. There's nothing like the family bonding that goes on with a project car :twothumbs It's a low budget/driver build but someday would love to go PT style.
anyways enough talking, on to the pics.....:firefire:

The day we picked her up. It was snowing at Casa de Fruita (CA)

Thanks. It's getting super exciting. I'm about to order up a hot steering rack, shockwaves are being built, V10 shows up today... Good times.
What do your budget/driver build plans include? btw, nice work on the rendering.

thanks! I bet you didn't sleep much waiting for your shipment.
For my car, I'm just wanting to get it road worthy. Something I can enjoy. Main focus lately has been body work. My dad is a welder and he has had his hands full with the car. Previous owner thought it would be cool to cut a whole in the quarter panel for a Charger style gas cap. lol. That and rust patching. Then we went in an did countless hours of sandblasting/bodywork. It's real close to being done with the body work then on to priming. We have a 440 and 727 to go in it, I just wanted to get the body all settled first.
It's my first muscle car and first Mopar for the family. Dad has an awesome 70 Chevelle SS since I was a wee lad. I grew up in the honda scene and always loved muscle. Saved my fair share of hondas from the grave but I wanted to try something new/more worth my time. There is just nothing like old cars. After working on this car, I can now understand the saying "They just don't make em like they used to."
This car is mostly a learning experience. I like diving into stuff I haven't done before. That's why I like to cruise this site. LOTS of useful information

Yelcamino-Thanks! I love pictures of old cars with that barn-find/patina look to them.
Srd-Thanks! I honestly never knew this car existed till I saw it in a craigslist ad. For some reason I was drawn to this car and had to have it.
I studied applied computer graphics in school. It was mainly focused on making things for video games and animation. Lots of 3D stuff.

Looks like it was a good score.
Just a quick thought on your rendering, perspective on the rear tire looks just slightly off, like it's pointing in a different direction than the car. Try pulling the wheel so it's just a little wider and see if that looks any different.
Now then, forget that 2-D drawing stuff and let's see that bad doggie in 3-D!:woot:

thanks for catching that. I was thinkin the same thing but sometimes it takes another perspective to see it. /ninjaedit:)
ya i thought of doing a 3d model. Would be fun.
I might have to do another render for a '63 nova my brother picked up. He is sooo freaking lucky. He got the body which was pretty straight with no rust issues for uber cheap. When he brought it home he ran the vin, low and behold......it is an original SS.
that is a good looking project car man, that's going to be a good time building with the Fam too.
Keep sharing the progress pics!
