Horn wiring direct?

Can I run a wire from the bat marked blade on the fuse box TO the horn relay and then connect the horn button to the relay and also the wire going to the horn? I dont need the buss bar connection that goes back to the main power, my battery is in the trunk and I am running a 1 wire alternator. Can I do this? Do I need to protect that circuit in some way and how? What size wire should I run and is the part of the buss bar that is not being used safe to leave it as it is?
