This news story just came out tonight. I hope this does not happen, especially after it being a great venue for the Run to Music City this year.

Dover is the same company that owned Gateway International raceway in St. Louis. NHRA Drag strip, oval, and road course. They shut the whole thing down a year or two ago.

On another note, I was watching a little bit of the Brickyard nascar race last week, and it seemed like there were A LOT of empty seats in the crowd. Like almost half. I remember when you couldn't get tickets to these events.

With the economy down, discretionary income is also down. Attending racing events is not exactly a necessity, but a luxury entertainment expense. Families are tightening their belts and finding other, less expensive, entertainment options. It's really that simple. I'd look for other smaller market tracks to close as well.

you guys have to understand that in davidson county, only 6 % of families clear 120K a year.

With that being said, the majority of high paying jobs that can be attained by the non-famous are in the I.T. sector. The Nashville I.T. community is not known for it's innovation, so a fair amount of companies import Yankees ( like me ) to move down here and kick ass for them.

Most Yankees just ain't into these kind of motorsports and/or nascar. They'd rather drink wine and head up to kentucky to socialize while drinking mint julips at the horse track. Most people that have grown up down here, just don't have the money to actually attend races and piss money away. You wouldn't believe the kinds of deals that can be had on ancillary car parts down here. people are still hurting bad, regardless of what the wall street types say about the economy rebounding.

I hope it doesn't die. That would suck!
