You can try having a buddy very slowly turn the crankshaft by hand using a socket wrench on the balancer bolt while you watch underneath. It's probably laying on a rod.

trying buying one of the slim and I mean slim fleaxable magnets and fishing it out I know Matco tools offers one for like $20.00 and it's not like the old school type your think just straight round and long, and saves everyone I know alot of headaches out there. I bought 2 one for work and one for house. Check there site maybe find one simalar local. Brandon

I did exactly the same thing. Took me about an hour to get, but it was worth the effort. Iirc it was sitting on the windage tray. Maybe it won't cause any issues and fall into the pan later, but it wasn't worth the risk to me.

Dont feel bad bro.... I recently put headers on my 03 GMC CCSB HD. I was pulling and pulling and pulling trying to get my dipstick tube out of the block (it has to come out to do the header swap) and the darn dipstick tube broke off flush with the block. After trying several things to pull it out (easy out, lag bolt and cant remember what else) I gave up and took a punch and folded the edges over and drove it through.... had no choice and wasnt going to pull the motor or the pan. Jacked the front of the truck up as high as I could get it.... beat on the oil pan with a plastic mallet... it rolled to the back of the pan and I fished it out with a magnet. Probably got lucky though....

I agree with Chris and the others..... I would try and get it out of there. I have been installing The Mast pans for guys and have to drive that plug out before the install.
