Just got done bolting on my new 17s on my 79 trans am
but the snow flakes have pretty good rubber wrapped around them
how do I store them to keep them fresh
or will they rot away no matter what

Keep them on their sides, on cardboard rather than concrete. I like to put cardboard between 'em, too. Sunlight is bad, so cover them or keep 'em inside. Flip 'em every so-often to keep them happy.

I would keep them inflated. The longer they are in their natural usage shape the better. You don't want them to fold up and crack, etc.

Talked to the guys at BFG about this once. Best thing to do is leave them inflated, untreated, and put them in dark colored garbage bags. Use a shop vac on suction to pull out as much air as possible, then tie the bags shut as best as you can. Also keep them away from furnaces, water heaters, and A/C units. That's about the best you can do.
