Original seats from 80-90's Jetta GLI Recaro Trophy edition seats with the electric base. You can remove the VW tracks and adapt any mounts just as you would do with any other aftermarket seat.

The bolsters are nice and firm still.

The center inserts are in very good condition.

As you can see in the pic the drivers side has a little wear on the left side vinyl.

These Recaro's are very hard to come by. Recaro is still producing a similar style seats today at a cost of $949 for cloth.

No I haven't bill.

I have another pair of almost the same seats that I have mocked up in my 69 Mustang FB they fit well.
I went with this style for a few reasons.

1. Im not a huge fan of the high back race style seats.

2. DSE puts this style in most of their builds and I love the somewhat stock appearance of their builds.

3. These things are comfortable on long drives yet sporty for those track days.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these seats. I had the grey velour versions in my 91 GTI and currently run a similar seat in my 2nd gen F-body.

Bill, I know these aren't exactly the same, but this pic will give you an idea. They are mounted with Wedge brackets and Recaro sliders.

Are they suitable for big boy sizes???? as in size 42 and growing pants? Also, how high do they sit off floor to top of seat bottom? I am very interested and will pay shipping if they will fit. I am tall in the torso so need all the height there I can get which is tough in this application.

These may not be super comfy for you Bill. The grey velour later models had softer bolsters. The bolsters on these are pretty stiff and they are somewhat narrow. Look at the LS dimensions on the second image Bill. The seats are LS backs with a B base.

Bill on my mustang I was able to adapt my factory seat tracks to the Recaro that put it just a bit over the stock height due to the steel adapter I made. DSE sells Recaro seat tracks they are using them in both of their test Camaros.
Im 5'11 with a 40" waist and feel that these seats are far more less restrictive for a bigger guy like myself I have buddies with Sparco and Corbeau and I almost need a shoe horn to squeeze my big but in those seats.

Bill,

A company called Ultrashield offers a very nice aluminum racing seat with very nice covers that are very supportive, comfortable and affordable.

The offer their seats in many different sizes from 15 inch to 20 inch widths and also including the largest size which is called "Lard Ass" in their catalog! This seat will fit your "Lard Ass".

I have experience with this seat size as I installed two "Lard Ass" size Ultrashield seats in the 66 Shelby GT 350 race car when I built the car and could not have been happier!
