I'm not sure where to post this so if it needs to be moved go right ahead.

I was reading about protective films in the latest Diesel power magazine and they mentioned 3M had a window film that controlled heat but didn't tint the windows. Here's the link

For those not wanting to tint your windows I think this would be a great product. I personally will be doing this to the windshield of the truck I buy. I'm confident I could get away with the CR90 on the windshield. Honestly not sure if I'd go with the CR40 on the rest of the truck because I like dark windows and the CR40 isn't dark enough for me. I may go CR90 and then regular tint on top. Honestly, I'm not sure. I just thought this would be great for people that want to control heat from sunlight in their cars. The fact that the CR90 can be put on the windshield and you'll get away with it really interested me.

Generally not from the factory, but there are more than one options out there for UV film. Check this out. This is a very popular product among the exotics:

Most aftermarket window tint companies have a clear tint. Factory glasses have no UV protection, so it lets the heat in. The clear tint does help with the heat radiating into the vehicle. This is a popular product with commercial tint companies as it can be used in homes as well. If you wanted your side windows tinted, you would not need to apply the clear tint first. Most of the tints have the UV protection built into them as well. You just need to use a quality tint... Andrew

great link. Since moving down south i've been getting killed when I drive my galaxie ( no a/c)

As soon as It's back on the road I'm heading down to the local 3m guy and getting all of the windows done.
