Hey guys,

I'm embarking on a total redo/upgrade on my Camaro. Going LS motor and TCI front subframe and rear torque arm suspension. So nows the time to do a mini tub if I'm ever going to.

Problem is that I'm not one to have my car down for extended periods of time.

Anyone know some fabricators/shops to check with that could possibly do just a tub install within the next two months? Is that even a reasonable expectation or is fab work like this sort of like paint where you have to schedule way in advance?

Thanks

Hey Chad - the billable labor time would be in the 40 hour range (tubs only), but with the LS motor conversion and rear suspension the shop down time is a huge variable. Trusting a shop to do what they say they will/on time is always a roll of the dice, but two of the faster shops I've observed are BOS and JCG. That Mast motor is gonna be a monster! Good luck buddy and post some progress pics...

Thanks Ron. What did you mean by this? To be clear I am not looking for the LS conversion or suspension work to be done by a shop. I will do it myself. Ideally I'd strip out the relevant interior parts and stereo components in the trunk and drive the car as is to the shop to have the tubs done.

I'd do the other parts install after the tubs are in. The mini tub version of the TCI torque arm can't be bolted up until after the tubs are in.

EDIT: I should add I have an open PM to Chris at JCG (tried calling but straight to VM). After visiting their shop on the 2010 pleasanton cruise I gained a lot of respect for that shop. Though I don't really hold much hope he'd be able to do the job anytime soon. I think he has more business than he can handle in the fab area already.

Not sure I can afford BOS but I can give em a call.

Chad, hit up Rob Phillips. I think he has a spot open in his shop; I'm not sure what his schedule is looking like though.

Thanks Jon. I actually wondered about Rob on my ride home last night and meant to touch base with you or Matt to learn if he does work like that. I will look him up.

Thanks

Chad, BOS really isn't that bad. The shop rate is $75 an hour and they've done enough that it'll probably take less than 40 hours, even on a painted car. They can also probably do the job with a week's notice. Of course, if Rob has an open spot in his shop, and then he is saving you some drive time.

Hello, I have the same question and am looking for a shop to install mini-tubs in the rear of a 67 Camaro project car. I am starting the project and will do as much of the work I can learn.

I am in Los Angeles (San Fern Valley) and am looking for local shops and people to do some of the work. I have talked to several shops and if I lived in their areas I would be dragging the beast from my garage to theirs in a heartbeat.

Anyway I have been researching the project and I am looking to start with the tubs, the next stop would be media blasting and then the body shop.

If you would not mind if you know of anyone local to Los Angeles please PM me with contact information I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Frank
