Hello,

Here are some pictures of wheels from Genuine Boyds that can be built in 17",18", and 20" in virtually any width and 1/8" backspace increments to fit your car. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to help with maximizing your fitment.

If you are keeping leaf springs and I am assuming without relocating the shock mounts, you won't get that much extra space I don't think. And without notching your gas tank exhaust clearance could be an issue.

You could probably measure and figure out how much extra space by comparing the where the shock mounts, and springs are compared to the tubs (that would move into the frame rails since they are notched). Subtract the space the shocks/springs are from the framerails, and that should give you how much extra room just adding the mini-tubs would give you, my guess is maybe 1" if that. Hope that makes sense.

This thread might help you visualize things:

Hope this helps.

When you mini-tub a first-gen camaro , you have to move the upper shock mounts inward.( They are in the way )
When those upper shock mounts get moved , you have to move the leaf-springs too , and that results in a notched gas tank .
So , it's kinda' all or nothing .

Now , you could just do a grind , notch , and weld on the rear inner fenderwell sheetmetal that is attached to the rear frame-rail .
But you would only gain maybe 1/2 inch ???

You can fit a 9.5" tire on the back of a stock '69 with 5.5" backspacing .

You might be able to relocate the shock mounts and get the DSE offset shackles and then just dump the exhaust at the rear axle, if you wanted to save on a tank.

When I was thinking about Mini-tubbing it actually ended up being just about the same to get G-Bar (4-link with coil-overs) when all was said and done. Then you gain the ability to set ride height and some tun-ability. Also Required less cutting since I didn't have to weld in a new shock tower and depending on the exhaust size you are planning on running you might even be able to get away with the stock tank or just have it minorly notched to clear.

Just some more ideas, definitely agree with Jeff above its kind of an all or nothing type of thing. But I'd look into G-Bar/G-Link, maybe give Frank @ Prodigy a call he knows his stuff around this type of thing (where I got my Tubs, G-Bar and rear-end setup from him).

You can mini tub a '69, use existing leafs, exhaust out the back and stock tank.

Not heresay, or opinion, this is what I did:

My wheelhouses were patched, so I needed new metal regardless of whether stock or extended tubs.

I cut the old wheelhouses out to the frame rails.
Relocated shocks to inboard of the leafs.
I used GLA tubs, which do not require notching rails.
1.25" inboard each side for the leafs. I made my own offset shackles, stronger than stock.
Cut/rewelded spring perches 1.25" inboard on 12 bolt
Stock tank, no mod necessary.
Shorter shocks with E1-E1 mounts
Exhaust left untouched - out the back

I opted for 10" rims. 11 would have been fine but could not justify the high price increase for 11's.
I'm running Nitto 305-35-18's.
315 would have fit fine also, but I found new, unused 305's on Craigslist for a very cheap price.

GLA tubs from Matts Classic Bowties. He consistently gives me the best prices on everything and I do check everywhere.
Rushforth 18x10 Livewires, 6.375" BS.
The Rushforth shop can hook you up correctly the first time and give you the best price.

What is GLA?
Are these mini-mini tubs or stock tub with a filler added in?

I mini-tubbed my '69 to fit 325's without relocating leaf springs. You will have to relocate the tops of your shock mounts as close to the outside of the frame rail that you can get. You will also have to roll the lips on your quarter panels.

If yo want to run your exhaust all the way out the back you will have to narrow your tank.

I made my mounts, they locate the back of the block in the same location as stock. I used Doug's Headers.

This link has a drawing of the mounts.
