Hello guys

You all remember me saying I wanted to go to Euro-exotic rather than throwing huge $ at my muscle car, which also resulted in me wanting to sell up.

Well

Guess what?

First of all, Next week I should have my first DSLR Camera, so I can get you guys pictures of my 68 Charger (huray!), also, I still have my QQ1 Blue 68 Charger that I will probbably have for a little while longer (huray!). At the same time as I wanted to get rid of them... I felt I would miss my V8 Sound, theres just something about the rumble in big engines I always liked. Not to mention they make Huge TQ numbers than that of the Euro-Exotic cars, making them alot better in straight line (street time), however I would still be desiring the cornering stuff of the Exotics that I wont get with the muscle and I love the fast feel of the exotics (going 60 feels like 200) that I wont get with the muscle.

So after doing research, I found out few things.

1: Aftermarket parts for exotics to make them 'better' are like non existent, so everything costs $$$ to do. To get a 750hp v12 Engine built N/A would need to go to a Power Boat racing team to build, that means $100000+ just for engine. But being a V12, it still wont have the Torque of the big block (shame) BUT it will handle at least! (Cool, if u take it racing otherwise its just bragging rights).

Well I found what I want.

1- A car that has the BIG BLOCK torque so I still feel like I got a muscle car when I put the hammer down.

2- A car that Handles like an Exotic car so that I get that side of the world performance without sacrificing straight line capabilities of a BB engine

3- A car that looked like a super car but at the same time reminds me of the Era of cars I loved (1960s)

4- A car that has aftermarket support so I can always make it that little bit better and my own just like theres plenty of it for my 68 Charger.

So really If I could find a car that did all that, I wouldnt really miss the Charger, as I get its acceleration TQ capabilities, I still got the 60s Era look, I also gained an exotic look aswell, I also retain the beautiful V8 sound and I also gain the race like feel when sitting inside it. So its basically having a Muscle Exotic all in 1.

I always loved the Old 1960s style Race cars (U remember the Formula one cars back then with the Oval front?), well there the sort of racers I liked and the full bodied ones aswell which were my Favourite.

So has anyone guessed by here which Car provides all that (muscle/exotic/race) combination?

FORD GT

The most awesome designed car EVER. It gives me everything I am after. A race like feel (driving 60 feels like 200 cause its just so planted), a v8 Muscle car Rumble/Torque, it gives me Exotic handling, it gives me plenty aftermarket choices AND Im sure would be alot more suited to this site being American than an Italian car.

The biggest bonus is its WAY cheaper than an Italian car and WAY cheaper to service/maintain.

Im REALLY looking forward to the day I buy 1 of these. Its PERFECT. Everything I been trying to get I couldnt...

ReasonsI want my 68 Charger the Exotics couldnt make up for, and the reasons I wanted the Exotics the Charger couldnt do it.

the FORD GT does both perfectly!

I remember when I was 4-6 somewhere there, reading this little book that was at my Grandmas house, had those old 1960s formula one cars that I think look cool, but my favourite one was that full bodied one. Not sure what It was but looking at it

1960s ferraris
1960s Lamborghinis
1960s Jaguars

etc all were designed with that oval sort of front. O yeah... the other 1 thing I liked (purely for satisfaction) was somethig that had some racing heritage to make it feel like 'wow', like the car means something. Well again the FORD GT does that. 6 year wins in a row at LEMANS.

Well There u are.
I look forward to showing u my QQ1 Blue charger soon and I look alot more forward to showing u a Silver, black striped GT!

On a side note... being a Mopar fan, Going to Ford is like sacriligious BUT, looking at a car for what it really is and putting away prejudice ideas, seriously Ford have designed some awesome circuit racers, from dominating Pony Car class racing with there allmighty Mustang GTs down to the Lemans dominating ferraris etc with the FORD GT.

So u guys who own these Fords, great!. Ford have some Nice racing heritage behind them.

Thats it from me for now!
Thank u all once again for all the help uve given!

You could have gone with a Pantera too.

Im surprised that being a Mopar fan, you did not consider tweaking you requirements a little, and checking out Vipers, they are new, but carry the DNA of the Cobra, Cheetah, Shelby, etc.
They love the track, and have plenty of aftermarket support, maybe not as exotic/rare as the Ford GT, but I would consider the Ford GT a domestic exotic, not Euro. There are also many years of Vipers produced, even a GTS/R, race ready.

Agreed! My favorite car of all time is a Ford GT but you can have tons of fun with a Viper with tons of torque for less money

Could but I love the British Designed body of the GT... the front just looks right. The vipers look like Asians. Slanty headlights, and wth the way its designed it looks angry. The GT just looks clean/elegant and race like without this 'face' on it.

+ I love the rarity factor.

Yes its not a Euro Exotic...ITS BETTER :D

I think that was a good choice on the ford. I think vipers are real cool cars also but the GT has the nastalga look and a little more rare. I dont know where you live but there are plenty of speed shops around that know how to really make those cars go, that is if 11.xx 1/4 miles and 200mph isn't fast enough for you. LOL.

A Viper is a way better ride than a GT, Been There, Done that!!!

Better ride as in what sense?

Does the viper feel softer more like a standard car? I want a race like feeling car.

G-man, personally I think you've made a great decision... The GT is a very cool car and keeping the Charger is a bonus... When you were talking about the horses,,, I cautioned you about my experiences and from what I'm to understand of the GT you'll be much better off... Congratulations and I hope your decision will have you smiling for many years to come...

Thanks Tazz

I just need to climb the ladder now until I got the GT.

Gonna start with a 308/328 ferrari Imported. 1 by 1 I will get to the GT but at least I can enjoy a race like feeling car on the way.

I also think there is nothing quite like the GT. THe bonus is the fact it should cost what a ford costs to keep on the road (up to a point) vs an Italian car. It also keeps my muscle car torque/acceleration in it while taking corners like an exotic (if not better). To me thats best of both worlds with the bonus of Aftermarket availability being large.

I just dont know whether I want a Midnight Blue GT40 with White stripe or whether I want a Silver GT40 with Black Stripe. Cant seem to google up anything with any good shots (in the sun) of either.

Silver excentuates the lines better, but some cars tend to look really good in a specific colour, the GT40 being blue

Hmm, maybe look into the factory five racing daytona coupe for the same feel. I love gt40s too, but I'd rather have the coupe. That and they stomped ferrari.

Hey,

Now that Ive asked a few things to the GT and GT40 owners on that site... it seems theres another OPTION...

Since carbon fibre body, light weight, power is what I want...

They suggested a GT40 Replica.

They told me the GT40 Replica will give u the 60s Lemans driving experience, I can select my own engine/chasis etc, probbably cost me 150 000 to build what to me would be the ultimate supercar.

700 HP in a GT40 that weighs 2300lbs, would be scary fast.

THe 2005-2006 GT weighs 3600lbs, costs 170 000 to get, to then modify to lower weight etc is gonna cost 300 000, for 150 000 I coulda had a 700hp 2300lbs GT40.

They also said the GT40 will be a better car for the money aswell. Not to mention the GT40 consists of a 95" wheelbase vs the 104.6" wheelbase of the New GT... making it much better around tight corners aswell.

So perhaps thats the best thing for me. Cheaper, acquire it sooner and do everything Im after and resemble the legendary GT40

Another option you may want to consider is the GTM Supercar...

Horsepower TV (http://www.factoryfive.com/whatsnew/press/hptv/ls3episodetext.html) did a couple of shows on the Factory Five's GTM. Don't know much about it, but seems to have the look you are after and a quick search on the web yields some pretty good reviews of performance/handling. If you're a GM guy like me, this would be the better route since it is uses an LS motor.

fixed one for a customer - salvage but he was gonna track it anyway
The build quality is poor but it's a modern Chysler so I didnt expect much. It's on par with corvette as far as thats concerned. Neat car for the money. 2009 with like 2500 miles on it and all said and done had like 50k into it.

Thanks

Going factory 5, I lose out on the whole "this car won Lemans" idea/heritage that I would have with the GT40... it also doesnt look exactly like a GT40 which I prefer.

Engine wise, A hemi would be nice so since it aint that... ford or chev doesnt really matter to me as both can make 700hp. So being a ford GT40 id stick to a Ford motor.

The viper Idea might be cool, but again, its not a GT40, + I want a car thats mid engined rear wheel drive. Vipers are still traditional front engine rear wheel drive which wont give the experience of a real MRWD car. So VIpers fall off.
