Well, I forgot to put my hood pins in. Long story short: WOOSH! My hood flies off the car...it could have been a lot worse so thank God the only aftermath is a repairable hood.
Anyways, I don't have pictures right now, but it was a clean break at both hinge brackets. The mounting bases stayed bolted to the hinges, and the hood just peeled away.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the proper materials and procedure to get it fixed up? I don't mind reading a lot of detail.
Thanks!
Steven

youtube has all kinds of videos on fiberglassing, some are for airplanes but it's the same techniques

I'd probably just try to find another hood.

Trying to fix it and not have it look fugly will not be an easy job but it can be done. Looking for another hood that is even lighter than the one you had might be a good option? You will probably have as many hours in fixing your broken one as you would working for the money to buy a new one. For the cost of one event you can most likely replace it, but then you miss out on all the fun!

I'd probably just try to find another hood.
That's what I was gonna say. Unless it's a super rare hood, it's probably gonna be cheaper/easier to get a new one.

Thanks you guys. I picked up the hood for REAL cheap on craigslist a while back...it's not pretty and fit like crap but saved 25lbs over the steel one, so I fell in love with it for track days.
I'll make it an experimental DIY project, and if it doesn't turn out well I'll cut my losses and use the steel one for a while.
When I get to it, I'll post pics of the carnage and repair.

Bummer Steven. Not the pre-track day project you were probably looking for!
