I just picked up my 2nd Camaro (68 RS/SS, NOM 350, Saginaw 4 sp) a couple of weeks ago and I am planning to do a mild PT upgrade. My CC5S TKO600 will be in on Monday. Here are a few questions:

What would be the best (deal/price/warranty) non LS SBC crate motor to install? I am shooting for 400-500hp. I don't care if it's a 350, 383 or even larger. I also want to set it up as a pump gas daily driver w/a preference for vacuum boosted brakes and carburetor.

I will be upgrading the rear to a 12 bolt (3.73) and it looks like Moser has the best deal/reputation unless someone has better experience elsewhere.

Also has anyone used a Classic Auto Air system?

Thanks
Marty

The Fastburn 385 GM crate motor is nice. Add the Hot cam and 1.6 rockers and you have a legit 440hp that runs on pump gas. Also comes with 12 month GM warranty. GM also has the 383 crate motor, but I dont know if its externally balanced or not. I'd rather have an internally balanced 383 myself.

The ZZ383 is a very nice engine as well. We just finished up a ton of dyno work for intake manifolds. PM me with your email address and I can send you power graphs. Whatever you do, do not run the single plane (Edelbrock 2913) that GM recommends. It is completely mismatched to the rest of the combination. The new Weiand 8121 dual plane is an excellent choice for any engine with Vortec style cylinder heads.
