I have an Autometer tranny temp gauge that came out of my wrecked 95 Explorer. I never got it even hooked up. I am wondering if it is more important to monitor tranny temp in a Pro-touring car or in a drag car.
I am looking to put it in my PT wagon project or in my 89 street/drag car project. I already have ultra-lites in my wagon, and the temp gauge is a z series. Maybe I'll put it in my drag project along with the other z series watertemp gauge out of the explorer, Then get a ultra-lite tranny temp for the wagon to match.

If you road race / track your PT car then I vote for that. If you are seriously worried about either then get another gauge :)

PT cars need it more. Drag cars go 7-17 seconds under power and then rest for an hour. PT cars, on track, are under power, up AND down shifting, etc for minutes on end. You definitely want to monitor that closely.
