It sort of occurred to me while tearing apart a Trans Am the other day an some of the things we find regarding the cars past and it's owner or owners.

What's the weirdest or funniest things people have found in cars when tearing them apart?

This one wasn't too bad. We did find the build sheet a whole bunch of toothpicks and finally, a vintage unused book of matches for a franchise of "*****cat" Adult Theatres!

whats with the tooth picks? almost every car had 20-30 of them layin under the back seat.

we found a 396 out of a 65 chevelle in my buddies 67 vette during its tear down.

just last month while we were tearing apart a car, and doing some grinding on old body work, I found steel wool under the bondo. And in the door jamb there was 2 pennies and 1 quarter covered over with bodo hiding a hole. Hummm.... pretty shady body work.

i once discovered that most of the driver's side quarter panel on a 76 Monte Carlo i had was mad out of cereal boxes, shop rags, and popsicle sticks held together with bondo.. i discovered this when most of the quarter panel fell off when i got mad that a cop was harassing me and i kicked my car.. i knew it had plenty of bondo- and didn't care, it was a $300 car- but damn..

I found a complete police report from which was clear the previous owner was not a real nice guy.... I never forgot his name, Anthony "shotgun" R****** as it stated in the report.

My car was in a persuit (described in the report) and then later the guy was arrested and his house searched.

they found drugs there, don't recall if there were weapons too...I still have the report, I would have to look it up.

My first car was a 69 Malibu, found an empty cigarette pack stuffed in a hole in the fender with bondo over it.

On my parts wagon I found mouse poop everywhere inside and in the engine compartment. The air cleaner housing was turned into a big nest, lucky the filter element kept them out of the carb.

I think the cereal box 1/4 panel and the possum are tied for first place, lol!

I've found condoms, travelers checks, and shotgun shells in a few vehicles. I had a 68 C10 with a pair of tighty whiteys and fiberglass filling a hole in the floor board. That was probably the wierdest.

Found a weird looking small container in a car once and when we finally figured out how it opened, it had marajuana in it. Somebody must have stuffed in an area under the seat and then forgot about it.
No, I didnt keep it!

Some of these stories are really funny.

There was a small hole in my (otherwise perfectly good) headliner, so I figured, I'd need to replace that. When I pulled it out, mouse $#!t and seeds everywhere. It must have been home to a good number of field mice. What a mess, that crap was everywhere, falling on my head etc. All in all, not uncommon, for these old cars.

Not as weird as some of the others, but found a lot roofing tar on the passenger side floor pan. It was a huge pain to try and scrape off!

Computer speakers hot glued to the dash. Learned that the hard way when one of them fell and hit my leg when going over rail road tracks.

I have a friend who is a body guy. Last year he was taking the interior panels off of a car that had been hit and the found it was packed with cocaine. Needless to say the police confiscated the vehicle.

in a grand prix we fixed up we found a micro switch under the seat, by the rail. When pressed the whole right side of the dash, *under* the glove box popped open. (its not supposed to open. or be hinged.) behind that, tucked brilliantly into the airbox was a secret compartment that had a very well thought out box with a seal around it. They'd used a trunk latch off a Cadillac, the kind that "pulls down" when latched to suck the panel back into position sealing the box when closed. This work was totally invisible to the naked eye. It was clearly used to transport drugs. We'd bought the car at auction, so we showed it to the cops. There was no residue. Nothing came of it. We ended up selling the car that way.

When first taking apart my Trans Am, I found nuts and shells. Lots and lots of nuts. There were nuts under the carpet. Then, there were nuts under the sound deadener. Assuming the previous owner got about 99% of the nuts into his mouth, I can't imagine just how many he ate.

My Oldsmobile came with an unexpired handicapped hangar. I used it once just to say I did (albeit in an empty parking lot after closing hours.)

My cousin got an XJ Cherokee about 2 years ago that came with a pair of acid washed jeans that were my size. I actually wear those for working on cars sometimes.
