Has anyone ever seen a slick way to mount a license plate on the front of a '68 Camaro that does not have a front bumper?

Do you actually want to put one on there, or just trying to be legal? Maybe you got a fix-it ticket?

I just taped a rag to the back of it and zip tied it on for now. I hear if you run the Angeles Crest Highway you are certain to get pulled over. After tomorrows run I will remove it. I do plan to find some way to mount it long term. I would like to help avoid any potential problems with the fuzz.

Well I REALLY HOPE you didn't just jinx me or by writing this post I'm jinxing myself...
That said, I've been up Angels Crest many times without a front plate.

I probably got 4 or 5 front license plate fix-it tickets in my Porsche in the 2 years I owned it (but I have 4 cop buddies so it wasn't a big deal for me).... but I never get any problems with the Camaro. I think we honestly get more leniency from the avg cop, but that's just my hunch. Your results may vary!
And I absolutely HATE the way most cars look with a front plate.
Good luck on the Run boys.

Duct tape some good strong magnets to the back of the plate. Easy on easy off and the duct tape protects the paint.

In TX, you can usually get a pass by the law if you set your front plate in the dash...unless you get a complete d-bag cop.

what about a bracket that hooks up from behind the valance and holds the plate out? then you could remove it with no damage

Dont they have a hidden license plate deal that has a function to fold out if needed?

I seem to remember seeing a hidden front plate bracket but I have no idea when or where. Maybe do a Google search and see what pops up.

.....the fuzz.
That's great, I haven't heard that in years!
I rememer on the PowerTour on year, there was a guy with a 4th gen Camaro SS that mounted his plate to the air dam all the way underneath. For mine, I just take the risk, 9 years and I've only gotten pinched by the fuzz once.

I bent mine down the middle and mounted with two bolts to the airdam, put grommets in the top holes just in case they come in contact with the body.

I guess that's one good thing about Louisiana, they do not require a front plate. When you think about it, why should one be be required in the first place?

O, and in case you're wondering; yes that's on the Nürburgring/Nordschleife and the license plate held just fine!

I've seen the flip down plates but wondered how they would fit on a lowered first gen with a spoiler. I've been thinking about making a quick release bracket that mounts safely behind the spoiler.

One reason it is required in the BIG BROTHER stare of CA is to get it in the picture of the red light cameras they have at the intersections. You get the tickets mailed to your house and they dont have to pay a cop to right you a ticket.
