Nice car! How exactly does a car not yet built get an Optima invite? I might want to get in that queue...

so you can buy a spot with money and exposure, no skill needed? I have been going about it all wrong, all the driving schools, track time, car building, suspension dialing and all I had to do was get on TV and sell t-shirts? I feel stupid

Stock sized back seat was compromised with the addition of the tubs but the cage didn't help any. He is either going to run one bucket in the middle or a small contoured bench.

We are shooting for enough room to pack 4 large guys in the car along with bags in the back because its looking like we are going to try and drive the entire Hot Rod Power Tour, and from stop to stop... As you can see, we have alot to do.... haha.

Yeah, I like this car a lot short of the choice of wrapping it in flat green vinyl (over rust no less).

However, its not my car so what I think doesn't matter, and I'm still paying attention, as the attention to detail in everything but the body looks amazing.

Unlike many cars that are being / have been built this one will be used and literally beaten on! The idea was never for any real aesthetics, just something that is different where Timm can get some seat time and really have some fun.

The wrap will be destroyed, among many other parts and components... I know this because Timm will bring the fury and have NO mercy on the car. This is being built as a bare bones track car with 4 seats... because that is what Timm wanted... haha. At the end of the day this is hot-rodding at its finest. Just another enthusiastic rodder who is building to have some fun behind the wheel and he really could care less what it looks like, just wants to get it done and driving!

If this Timm guy was on here posting himself about a car he was building himself I would love this thing. But since its being built for him by a bunch of sponsors who are in it for marketing purposes I think I'll call BS. Timm will spend more time standing in front of TV cameras talking about this car than he will be "bringing the fury" on this "bare bones track car". This is an un-finished SEMA show car that had to be pushed into the convention center. That doesn't make me want to buy Turbonetics turbos, Magnaflow exhaust, or a GMR rear. FWIW I like the choice of matte green vinyl, I just think the proper metal work should have been done first.

Timm is a guy who doesn't do forums, period. Last week I had to give him a link to this build because he had no idea how to find it and I'm not sure but I doubt he'll spend much time ever posting if he does ever make an account.
As far as you're jealousy comment regarding him spending more time in front of a camera, that's a joke right, he spend's countless hours working on his own cars and has since he was a kid, including this one. He doesn't have a prep guy and has installed almost everything on this build including some of the metal fabrication. Unlike most successful people who only write a check and have their cars delivered to them when finished he's always gotten his hands dirty.

Yes his sponsors are a HUGE part of this build and it couldn't have been done without them, but he is still spending countless hours in his shop/garage putting this car together. And yes the car had to be pushed in the convention center, but then again he's also had 2 kids since starting this build and is the VP of a 200 Million dollar a year company with thousands of people a week standing in line to get an autograph, what have you done?

Im not a high profile guy on here, but I have Drag raced, autocrossed, and Road raced a few times each this year alone. I wish I could have done more driving events this year but I've been spending a lot of time and money doing metalwork, bodywork, and some upholstery on my 87' Grand National project in my home garage. (I'm getting ready to order a 9" style axle in the next month or two if you know any RACE-PROVEN axle housing/floater manufacturers you recommend)? Some of my welding/fab work has been on display at SEMA in the form of a 59' Fiat (2009'), a tube chassis/turbo S-10 (2010'), and a 67' Chevelle last year. I'm not on here to mess up your build thread, and I dont make 200million a year but I do know cars.

oh I see what you did there, you cant fool me for a second!

Not sure what you are referring to, GMR is NOT proven is all forms of racing, and that is on purpose. My components will NEVER be "proven" in Nascar simply because I refuse to play the political BS game that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to component usage.

As for proven, the hub setup we sell is a dialed down version of what has and to this day still survives 100+ MPH trophy truck roll overs. Among many cars that currently run all forms of track events including RTT and autocross events like OUSCI. Our housings are in essence "overkill" when it comes to strength, hence why we always post up the weight just so that we are not argued with it being too heavy.

I do not manufacture components for high level NHRA yet, but I do have a rear hub design that will see the light of day when I get around to it.

Yes we are a New company relatively speaking and it seems as though anything new always ruffles feathers. There is a good chance I will not convince you of anything and that is fine with me, GMR products are not for everyone but if you are interested then please give me a call, I can asnwer any questions you want even down to why we designed said components the way we did.

1-866-570-5962

As for the build, Timm spends more time on that car then any and ALL the sponsors. HE does not weld or bend tube so anything related to that was outsourced. Next time I'm over at his house I will snap a shot of the "camera boy" in action, but the overall reality is that he will have the car on the track soon because it was never meant to be a "SEMA-show" car. Did it go to SEMA, yes, but that was not the initial intention.

Regardless of how much $ my brother does or doesn't have, it doesn't change the fact that he's a huge car guy and has been since we were kids. If he's at home and not playing with his kids he's in his garage working on one car or another.

As far as sponsors giving products to the rich and not the poor, I can see both sides of this argument as I'm not rich or famous but I still get taken care of by my "sponsors", but from a business stand point it I know it make's no sense to give "me" or the average guy a product when they can give it to a guy like Skrape that's going to get their company LOT'S of publicity from many different directions including national tv coverage, radio interviews, multipal magazine articles etc etc...

Once you get the chance to meet TImm in person you will see that he is quite the down to earth guy, he along with two other founders built TapouT literally front the ground up with nothing.

In fact Timm was an employee of OPG back in the day and was Fired for being late too many times because he was out late... selling shirts out of his car during fighting events. Tomorrow he will be at the Magnaflow Booth 9am then Turbonetics 11am, come by and say hello if you are At SEMA. I will do my best to be over there but chances are I will be over at the Brake MAn booth most of the day tomorrow.

Cool car, cool components, cool concept. Cant wait to see how this thing performs with 3 passengers. Should be fun. I have to ask though... are those "Tapout" emblems staying? Im not really a fan and think you could find a better way to add the emblem to the car. Those remind me of a large chunky plastic medallion someone would hang from a chain necklace.

Rather than "hating" on the companies, contact them and look into a sponsorship. I have a friend that started into rock crawling and eventually started hitting the larger events, he contacted some different places and was sponsored with tires and other parts. You don't have to be rich, you just have to try. Of course if you succeed you better be at events and do your part!

The car still has some cooling issues so Tim ordered a new radiator and fan. We went ahead and changed to a larger rear anti-sway bar and stiffened up the low speep and high speed adjusters on the Ridetech shocks. The car is getting better each time it hits the track(which is only twice so far). Tim is trying to get some Rivals since the NT05's are only available in a 295 for the rear.

Tim and James Crosby made a few laps at Adams last night. Tim kept getting faster as the night progressed and he got comfortable with the track. His fastest was a 47.0.

Having problems with how and where to run the 2 crank case evap lines.
One comes out top front passenger side head and the other from almost under the throttle body. Right now both line are run together into one hose, then to an over flow bottle. The bottle is filling with oil.

How should the lines be run to prevent oil from filling the overflow bottle?

That is the tanks purpose, to catch and hold the oil.

Ditch the filter on top of the reservoir. Run a line from that plug to a vacuum source on the the inlet of the turbo. Even better yet would be to increase the line sizes to at least -10

As you can see in the video the car's very fast and through out the day we made a lot of changes that helped quite a bit. At this point there's still countless things that can be done to make it much faster and there's a lot of very knowledgeable guys helping out.
For a reference, the S10 behind us is 2500 lbs with a built LS3 making 600 hp and the Wagon flat out leaves him on the straight a ways. From the passenger seat all day I couldn't tell how much faster we were than the truck but the owner kept telling us, so the last race of the day I jumped into the truck for 6-7 laps and was shocked at just how far the Wagon ran away on every straight section of the course.

Tim's not on here but I can answer, it didn't help enough. James and I took the hood off at Cali. Speedway and it helped get us a few more laps before hit 250* but it didn't cure the issue.

If just cruising around it doesn't get hot, a few weeks ago we took it to Lakewood(30 miles away) and it never got past 190*

The oiling issue was cured with a proper oil feed and drain line to/from the turbo. Unfortunately, the damage was already done to the seals so turbonetics replaced it.

The roof was done years ago when West Coast "Customs' did their hack work on the car.

In the off road world there are a lot of 1/2 Million dollar prerunners that have Dynamat on the roof with head liners in 100+ degree's and I've yet to hear of anyone having an issue. So IMO I wouldn't be concerned with it on a street car.
In fact were doing a headliner in my truck(pic below) and you can see I did my roof also

It's to bad the episode was filmed right after the car was finished. IMO it makes the car look un-finished, and we both know the car has had some major improvements since then

The Super Chevy Handling Challenge is all wrapped up. Unfortunately, Mary couldn't drive the car with the seat so far back to fit Skrape. We had to improvise on the driver for the road course. Read all about it in the January 2015 issue of Super Chevy.

Got rid of the MagnaFlows and completely changed the sound of the car now that it's got the Black Widow Mufflers on there

Good move! Love Magnaflow as a supporter of this sport, just never have gotten that warm fuzzy feeling from the sound of their muffs.

Was this Wagon in the background on this weeks episode of Street Outlaws? They where in Vegas for some "street" racing...

Very Nice Project -- I've always loved box Nova Wagons -- What is the overall opinion now that you've went to a supercharger over a turbo????? -- -- I'm sure that on the shorter/tighter courses the supercharger will be faster, but you'll miss the Turbo on the longer courses -- -- It would of helped to have had a lot smaller turbo on the car, something mapped a lot closer to the engine and driving speeds.... I ran a Magnuson supercharger on my Bike back in the 80's and really enjoyed the instant torque, but eventually switched over to turbos and I've never looked back (turbos belong on every toy LOL) -- -- Love to know when you're going to go back to Adams or maybe the monthly SCCA SOLO event at Fontana, I'll bring out my toy and make a few laps with you...

We haven't run Car at any big track besides Vegas for Optima since the swap and we we're fighting all kind of issues that weekend, but the one thing we didn't have issues with was heating which we've had since day one with the turbo set up. We did probably 30-40 laps at Fontana a few weeks ago at Robert Bryds event and were VERY happy with the change. The car is actually fun now since it pulls all the way through the the power band versus once boost is up. So autocross tracks should be a lot more fun
