I bought my first 69 Camaro in August 1990 when I was 17. After it was totaled in 1991 (not my fault!!!) I searched high and low for another nice 69 to use for a daily driver and found a 4-speed in decent shape in Reading, PA. I learned so much about cars over the next few years just keeping it on the road- it was amazing! I ended up with an old Escort to get to work and the Camaro became a project car. I've been hauling it around ever since and only drive it about 500 miles a year. I keep hoping to find more time for the hobby. I've bought tools and made a garage a priority but for the past 5 years it seems like the Camaro is more like luggage than anything else. I remember reading about Big Red and thought how freakin' cool it would be to add fuel injection and modern suspension, etc. to a 69 Camaro and I have been lurkin in the Pro-Touring shadows ever since.
On Father's Day last Sunday, my Wife took me out to dinner at a local Micro-brewery in Sterling, VA for dinner and there was a shiny, black '69 Camaro with 18" rims in the back of the restraunt parking lot, so I drove our Honda with baby seats over to get a better look... it had LS1 stickers on the fenders!!! I jumped out and got down on my hands and knees to see how the fuel tank was rigged up and then looked to see the trans was mounted- (I think it was a T-56)... my wife thought I had lost my mind but damn, here was somebody living my dream, and now I'm hooked again. Time to sell the house, the lawnmower, whatever else can I put on ebay to get some dough for a LS1... anyone want to buy some clothes???
