Hi All,
Thank you VERY much for all the support, we already have 15 cars signed up! To answer a few questions:
- Autocross is separate from drag racing. You can do both if you want, but you don't have to. The NMCA drag guys are pretty hardcore, we plan on watching the wheelstands between AutoX sessions.
- We are collating entries now and someone from NMCA will contact you in the next week or so to get you a sign up packet. We are running the autocross, but they are being gracious enough to give us the venue and handle admin.
- You can certain run exhibition only. We will be running that class in E-Max and our F-11 Camaro all weekend.
Also: John will lay out the course and be on hand as race director, and we've asked the local SCCA to come in and help is with timing and manpower. So we think it will be a FAST course that should run smoothly.
Todd and the Baer crew will also be on hand for speed stop and have comitted some awesome prizes for winners.

I think you pay for each separate event event, with the autocross and speed stop being grouped together, perhaps.
BTW, I submitted a form last night. Is that all I need to do at this point?

Matt - that's right... Autocross and Speed Stop are one package. The drag racing is separate. Thank you, you're good to go. Someone will contact you this week to confirm.
Larry - glad you're coming! NMCA will contact you this week to get payment info.

I browsed the site looking for a host hotel and they don't have one listed. I called and they don't have one at this time. If there isn't one up soon I would suggest looking for one near "Ontario Mills" or "Victoria Gardens". These are both real nice shopping/entertainment areas within a few miles of the track.

Hey Everybody! Here's the rules and classes! Get signed up today!
Hotchkis Sport Suspension/Baer Brakes NMRA/NMCA Autocross
Why try autocross?
Imagine standing on the throttle, then pushing on the brakes to maximum, and then turning the steering wheel hard to make the corner. Now think about doing this in a friendly, safe, no pressure environment. This is autocross, and yes, it is fun!
In years past, attending a car show meant driving to the show, finding a nice parking place, unfolding the lawn chairs and pulling out the build book. While a static car show can still be enjoyable, getting behind the wheel and pushing your favorite project car/ truck to the limit is thrilling.
In the interest of safety and enjoyment, autocross events are held in large, wide open parking lots. A course is set up using orange cones, and the driver navigates the course as quickly as possible. Each vehicle is timed, and to encourage safe in control driving, hitting cones results in time penalties. (Penalty is 2 seconds per cone.) Autocross events are “Time Trial” type single car competitions with no wheel to wheel racing. Vehicles stage and then start on a light, run the course and then finish through a timing beam before coming to a complete stop in the stop box area.
Just bring your registered/street legal vehicle to the Hotchkis/Baer Autocross registration/tech area next to the course entrance to get inspected. Once passed you are ready to run.
Who can participate?
Any registered participant of a NMRA/NMCA event can run the Autocross. Though a separate registration and inspection is required to run the autocross course.
Rules and Regulations for the Hotchkis/ Baer Autocross:
All Autocross participants must be NMRA/NMCA event participants. The NMRA Registration number will be the Autocross entry number.
2. The Autocross entry number must be displayed and easily read. Further instructions will be at the Hotchkis/Baer tech inspection area.
3. Participants must use DOT approved tires with a minimum of 180 tread wear. (No shaving or softening) No R compound or racing tires for official timed runs. Unapproved tires may be used for a limited number of exhibition, non scored runs per day. To be determined as time allows.
4. No passengers or drivers under the age of 18. Passengers must sign the same liability waiver as driver.
5. Wristbands will be issued to drivers and must be worn at all times.
5. Helmet use is required. A limited number of loaner helmets will be available.
6. Participating cars must pass a basic safety inspection that will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
A. Functional seatbelts.
B. Proper brake pedal pressure and travel.
C. Sufficient throttle return spring and secured battery.
D. All lugnuts in place and tight.
E. Hubcaps are to be removed.
F. Valid driver’s license & Proof of insurance.
G. Registered - Street legal vehicle. No Race Cars.
H. All loose items to be removed from vehicle.
(Floor mats, items hanging from rearview mirror, cassettes, CDs, and glove box, console, trunk items.)
I. Vehicles with fluid leaks will not be permitted on the autocross course
7. Vehicles must be in finished condition with floors, doors, fenders & pickup beds where required.
8. No unsafe driving will be tolerated. Management will have COMPLETE discretion to deny anyone participation in the Hotchkis/Baer Autocross for any reason.
9. CLASSES –
Modern Muscle 1993 - present
Street Machine- 1973 - 92
Muscle Machine - 1955 - 72
Street Rod - 1954 & older
Truck Class – Any year that is currently registered as a truck with the DMV
Turn and Burn- Open to any street legal, registered car or truck. Lowest combined ET of quarter mile and autocross course. To be eligible driver must bring an official time slip (matching the vehicle) to the autocross course. Drag strip ET and autocross time will be added up for final time.

Bruce ...
You shouldn't be anywhere near the 405 as the event's in Fontana at California Speedway (near the 10). I think there's a separate fee for the autocross/brake challenge and another for the drag racing. Both are reasonable, though. Have fun ...

Dear Hotchkis,
First off, I would like to thank you guys for putting on a well-organized and nicely promoted autocross. It was fun and I have high hopes for tomorrow. However, I do have one request.
Regarding your employees/volunteers, please make them understand that it is not appropriate to just jump into someone's car to try to start it and drive it off. More specifically, when the would-be morning tech line disperses (as everyone just learned that there would be self-tech inspections) and one or two cars remain, potentially blocking others from getting to their assigned spaces, it would be nice if a certain employee (that guy settings cones in the middle of the course most of the day) took a moment to think. Make your employees maybe try walking over to the easy-up tent (where almost everyone is congregated filling out forms) to find the owner. Maybe even use the speaker system and ask to have the car moved. I'm still dying to know what was so important that drove whichever Hotchkis employee to skip these afforementiond steps and just jump in my car to try to start it and move it (I left they keys in it.)
I'd really appreciate it if I didn't have to turn around tomorrow only to find some presumtive jack-hole has decided to commandeer my car.
I should point out that this was an isolated incident and was the result of (I assume) one individual's choice. This is not representative of how Hotchkis ran that autocross as a whole. The rest of the Hotchkis crew and H-team members were a well-organized class act.
Thanking Hotchkis again for a local autocross,
- Brett Habegger
Deanna and Kyle Newman battled for the win yesterday! Deanna's 71 Camaro just edged out Kyles 55 chevy and rons black nova scooped 3rd great job guys!
I'm sure today's going to be more fun, John hotchkis announced all day! Awesome job! The Voulenter H-Crew did a great job! All day

I got there bright and early, too bad I had several catastrophic equipment failures, I was lucky to make it home truth be told.

Casey in his 92 Camaro. He won his class and was only a little bit off FTD. Pretty damn good for a car that only has springs and shocks.

FTD went to Brian Hobaugh in his AMAZING 73 Camaro in the exhibition class.

That was a fun weekend. Thank you to Hotchkis, Baer Brakes, and the SCCA workers for all their hard work. Thank you to all the sponsors also. Next years sounds like it will be even better!
It was a great weekend, great to see you at the event Brian!! I tossed a picture of your car in here, along with a few others. The heat made it tough but it was great to see John Hotchkis stick it out for the entire event rooting us all on. Thanks Deanna for the ride, your coaching was really helpful -- You rock my sista! Thanks Kyle for the ride, your coaching was helpful (excluding the breakfast that you left behind my trailer) and as always you rock my brutha!

haha, that was a horrible run. I'm slightly embarrassed by it. Had we only gotten the run where Kyle Newman was with me on the run previous to ours, that would of been an epic video.
But, of course, soon as the the camera comes out it goes to hell. Still, stupid fun. Thanks Chad, and glad you made it out for a few hours despite having tire issues. :)
My fastest run, a 38.8 was with Kyle Newman, which I'd like to thank him as well cause he's a big goof ball and he brings out the goof in anybody he's around. It's relaxing haha... a 38.8 in the grand scheme of "our" group, is horridly slow. But amongst the 5th Gen Camaros and new Challengers, my times were near the top (If I recall correctly). Except I got put in with the Vendor/Exhibition class...? I guess because of the Spectre banner on the windshield? So, apparently I was working for Spectre this weekend... hahah Which is cool by me, Mike and the crew are good people. Happy to represent! :)

On a side note.. saw Aaron from Hotchkis driving home in Emaxx on the freeway.. poor dude looked exhausted .. haha. I think we all were... I know I am, and I'm at work after 2 days in sun. Ugh. Don't get to rest till Monday morning when I get off. Lol

Thanks again to the Hotchkis folks who made this happen. I was really impressed that John himself did the announcing all day long.
Anyway, here's the only out of car video I have.
Rmqpe5_npBU
My cousin sat out one of his runs to film my car. Luckily, it was my quickest run (but I hit a cone) and it also includes an awkward head bump with my passenger. If you've ridden in my car, or any stock 2nd gen, you know the padded side bolsters do nothing as they are only padding. The combination of chicanes, decent grip, horribly seat bolstering, and a passenger not holding herself in place resulted in this.

Hahahaha... that's a riot. Totally true. Doesn't help that your old seats are vinyl... but polished from years of butts on them so you tend to slide around even if holding on. Makes for an interesting ride!
Now just save your lunch money and grab an extra paper route to save up and buy a sweet TVS kit for that car of yours and totally dominate your class. ;)
Now I really have to step it up... not only do I have to worry about Jon (my BFF! Lol) in the hack Nova but you too now in the 'youngins' group (that includes Matt with his uber pretty '69 and Tom Foglesong and his sweet 1st gen). I've got my work cut out for me. :P

Wowza, what an event! I was really impressed with how close the competition was; Deanna, Kyle, and Myself were all within a couple hundredths (even if the timing equipment says differently). Hotchkis and the SCCA boys did a fantastic job of putting on and running the event, they were cranking the laps out; I think I got 30 runs over the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday finished with Deanna winning our class (<'73) with Kyle and I nipping at her heels. The prizes for this event were amazing; I scored a set of Nitto tires and a 40% off Hotchkis coupon for my efforts.
I can't wait for next year's event. John Hotchkis and the boys at NMCA already have some improvements brewing. So if you didn't make it this year, you have a year to get ready.

Just wanted to chime in and say thank you to the Hotchkis and Baer Brake Team, what a well run and fun event! Deanna, you are amazing and taking the win away both days at the last run made for a fun and exciting weekend and no one deserves it more! John, your sticky outie wheeled nova is flat fast! Congrats on the tires, that might be the best prize ever for us drivers (we all know we can never have enough fresh tires laying around). Matt, what do you mean im a goof? i was just being my self...... you do a heck of a job wheeling the family car around the course! Rod and Suzy, thanks for putting up with us all weekend. Sorry for puking behind your trailer, Sunday was not a great day for me, but the good news is everything is staying down today.... Brian Hobaugh, thanks for the ride and driving help, your car is amazing!
All in all a great weekend, lots of fun, and lots of driving! The competition is defiantly getting stiffer with just a few tenths separating the top times. I cant wait till the next one!

Haha, true, you were just being yourself. But your normal self is a pretty fun person to hang with. Just having stupid fun with a bud takes the pressure off, and it shows cause you and I ran my fastest time just being silly out there.
The G8 was really limited by tires this weekend, the factory rubber just can't take that sort of abuse. They're very unpredictable at the limit, sometimes they stick... sometimes the front washes out, sometime the rear slides around... every run is a circus act. Keeps things interesting!
Was great seeing everybody again, and really for me that was worth the price of admission right there.

^Ah, I didn't even stop to think that you went back to your stock wheels and tires. How did you like them compared to those Sumitomos? I imagine the stock bridgestones would have a bit more stick. Anyway, that pebbly surface made for really sudden loss of traction.
LoL! Awesome. Who was the lucky girl?
Some lady's daughter who wanted a ride; no idea other than that. She tried to treat it like a roller coaster ride with her hands in the air and whatnot, but it just meant she got thrown around even more, lol. I was just glad the ride didn't bore her. The next passenger I gave a ride to was unfortunate enough to witness me put together a completely horrible run (that is, more horrible than usual).

Brian, the new car is sick man. Makes me want to build a real race car. I wasn't that thrilled with my 7.99 on the speed stop. I think I could've pulled out a better one Sunday as I was definitely hitting more MPH(Getting into 3rd for a second or two) but I think I smoked my brake fluid on Saturday with my 8 or so back to backs! Brakes got a little spongy after and I've been down this road before. ha ha

That track was a lot of fun. I especially liked the back left-sweeper, flat out in 1st (3.08 rear, automatic) and hope it sticks. Even the tight last portion was fun, busy hands through there; although my PS pump hates me for it... I am really happy with how the Rusteze/76/STP Nova did out there.... :) With this event being my 4th or 5th non-peanut autocross, and with finishing up the new brakes on Friday night; I wasn't going in with too high of expectations. Coming away 3rd in class both days, I couldn't be happier; and to do it with all of you knuckle heads is an added bonus.
Brian, your car is amazing in every way. I love it. My Nova looks up to your Camaro, like the big brother it never had. hahaha

Tom, I really like your car; everything about it is killer. You did great for your first time in the car, and first time on the track.

Agreed, that Chevelle was super clean... totally was digging it.
Oh, and how come nobody ever takes/or posts photos of my G8? I see the photographers out there taking pictures, I know they must of mistakenly gotten a few whether they wanted to or not...
What's a guy gotta do to get some love by the picture peeps?! (probably not drive a G8....lol)

If it didn't perform, it would be ugly. I'd build a set of flares for that baby. I think that would really set it off.

Thanks

With classes for Modern Muscle, Street Machine, Muscle Machine, Truck, Street Rod and Turn & Burn, there was a great array of cars, trucks and customs running the cones and locking up the tires on the autocross and SpeedStop courses.
Competition in some classes was fierce and the results very close. Deanna Marengo narrowly took the win in Muscle Machine with a 36.25 over 2nd place Kyle Newman's 36.47. Deanna runs a full Hotchkis 2nd gen TVS on her stunning cherry metallic F-body.
Another hotly contested class was Modern Muscle, with over 20 entries. Bruce Cambern placed 1st in his…For more of the write up for this event, Click Here (http://www.hotchkis.net/press_release.html?ID=62)
