I purchased my 80 Trans Am about three months ago and the prior owner had it set up for drag racing or at least looking like it should be on a drag strip. Front springs were taller than normal and had some tall rear springs too. Had a front end issue and now's a good time to make some suspension changes. I ordered a GT suspension kit from Dave at PTFB. Have received most of the order and will hopefully receive the rear springs soon so I can get it all installed. Also ordered subframe connectors, solid body mounts and front sway bar bushings and end links.

I've ordered a set of Year One's newly released Honeycomb rims along with a set of Nitto 555's, 285/40 for the rear and 255/45 for the front.

Here are a couple pics following installation of the rims and tires.

No way!!!!! They changed it that much? Man I think that blows. Yeah, it's their car now but your car was unique and looked good to begin with.

Jack, nice color! I test drove a copper 80TA that had a built 455 in it years ago. I couldn't afford it at the time but man has that color always stuck with me. The rims look great on there. Be sure to post pictures once you get the new suspension on there.

Pictures of my TA can be found in my build thread. Maybe one day I'll get back to building it. I moved from GA a year ago now and the car is still there.

NOT A TA

Thanks for the vote but my cars old school compared with the crop of 2nd gens getting turned out recently! AND AND AND there should have been a pic of a certain white TA included in that post! C'mon, post it up! Or I'll have to hunt down a pic of it while you' busy building an even better engine than the last one Mr. Paddle shift!

Not really pro-touring at all yet, but hopefully will be one day.

Upcoming plans...New brakes from booster to rotors (Kore3), new wheels to fit those brakes (never ending quest to find some I like at a reasonable price) on some nitto tires (go back and forth on which ones...depends upon the wheels I get)

Further down the road...BMR upper and lower A-arms, QA1 coil over shock setup, 6/8 point roll cage setup (I go back and forth a lot on this as some of you know...I know all the pros and cons..), new rear leafs and shocks (may potentially go to 4 link, depends on final costs) even further maybe replacing some of the heavy stock parts with carbon fiber as the parts become available...painted of course. Waiting for the sway bars because WS6 setup is pretty good minus the fact they are heavier than hotckis' stuff. If you can't tell by now...I don't have a very large budget.

anyways...

Trevon, not all of us have big budgets to have some shop build us a killer TA like you see some folks posting up here. Most of us are just guys who've had cars a long time and have built them up a little as we go, as time and money allow. Don't let that kind of stuff discourage you.

NOTATA, you've been doing more with that car longer than most who are here in the protouring community. That makes it a winner in my book. And I know you did most of that work (if not all of it) yourself. You practice what you preach, on track and off.

OK, my car. 1974 Super Duty Trans Am, non-original drive train so all you purists can catch your breath now. Currently dead due to engine problems but a new 461 Pontiac stroker motor is in the works.

I think this thread should be all Pontiac F-bodies. Just my 2 cents.
