OK went to finally grease up the Global bushings on the 79 Camaro and the front ones are so close to the A arm the grease gun won't fit. In fact I had to use a 1/4 thin socket to even screw them in . 45s and 90s do not get tight without pointing it at the A arm. Any TALL ones out there of just get a BFH and dimple the A arm?

You can back off the 45 degree one just enough to get the gun on and fill then tighten fully or get a point nozzle for your grease gun. I use the point nozzle.

Did you press them in the arm before realizing where the fitting would line up at ride height?....see that before, and it does make it very tough to get the hose on the fitting to where it will take grease and not squirt out all over.

There are tall fittings available, check with a hydraulic supply store or tractor/construction equipment repair.

There is a kit made for early Mustangs that offers extensions and fittings to grease the upper arms, may be of some help. As David said, equipment also uses various configurations of grease fittings.

You should be able to get longer fittings at your local auto parts store. If you can't find any let me know I think I might have an extra set. If I do I will send them to you for free.

Or... call Doug (at Global West), and get some from him.

He uses the extra long zerk stands for the SH series rear leaf spring bushing kits.

47118I kept them on the top assuming that would be the easiest once installed. The front one is snug against the A arm, the rear one there is a flange that keeps the bushing away.

O reilley's choices are minimal.

I'll look around at tractor Supply or call Doug.

68400bird appreciate the pffer may take you up on it.

I picked up one of these http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=shop&item_ID=68755&group_ID=1545&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog for the hard to get to grease fittings.
