I've been lurking here for awhile, so I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Robert and I'm in central Florida. I'm working on a 1979 Malibu with a 402 big block in it. It started as an impulse buy three years ago. I stuck the 402 in there because I had it and it was way better than the 267 that was in there. Currently it has a 700r4 with 3.73 rear gear. I just changed the springs out for front s-10 blazer springs with 1/2 coil cut and unknown rear lowering springs along with kyb shocks for an s-10 in the front and g-body rears. I've also changed from weld draglites to 17x8 mb old schools with 245/45-17 hankook v12 tires. Now the car is fun to drive with the a/c on. I plan to rebuild the front with tall upper and lower balljoints and an iroc steering box that I have. I'm also thinking about changing the front brakes to the blazer setup with s10 rear wheel cylinders, I'm trying to do this on the cheap. So that's the plan, what do you think?

Welcome from a fellow central FL-er that also just recently stopped lurking here and started posting. How are those Hankook V12's working out? I have a set in the garage for the camaro waiting on the Rushforth's to arrive.

I haven't drove many miles on them yet, but I can let you know in 10 days. I'm going on the power tour for the long haul.

Nice 'Bu. I think I seen it at the Alabama stop on Power Tour. I would do the S-10 brake swap for sure. I've done a few and its a huge upgrade from stock and you can grow on it(C5 or C6 Corvette). Anyway too much rambling. Welcome.

Ok I'm back from power tour and recovered. It was a good time and a complete blur as to were I was at any one time, I couldn't tell you what state I was in most of the time. I had no mechanical issues at all, the only problem was the radio quite twice for no reason. As far as the hankook tires I'm impressed, road good, quite, and stuck well. I got to have some fun on a Indiana back road on the way to Indy and the car did great. But I really need faster steering and some better brakes. We also got to drive on gm proving grounds test tracks, that was a an unbelievable experience. I was surprised gm didn't even babysit us, so we could actually run it fairly hard.

Here's a few pics of my car that hot rod took and posted

I don't know if I saw you or not. There weren't many Malibus till we got to Indy. I saw several there, and I wasn't even really looking for them.
