What mounts did you guys use to get your motors in ??
1970 442 getting a 2007 GM LY6 & LS T-56 6 speed.

Gary's 68 said he used some Energy Suspension LS mounts with Chevelle frame mounts.
I'm just curious about options.

Not sure if I should get the 1" back plates, or stick to the regular ones.
Just looking for tips on what other people did.

69 El Camino, stock 69 350 frame stands with stock motor mounts, attached to the engine with some adapters made of 1/4" steel plate.

4th gen F-body accessories. Engine is about as far back as I can get it; will need to notch the frame for AC lines or change to a different compressor location.

If you're going to use it with a T56, you might want to check where the shifter comes up. It's farther back than the Muncie location so others have used plates that move the engine forward.

Try to find a kit for as many pieces as possible. Edelbrock makes one for chevelles I think. Engine plates/headers/oil pan- its easier if these are bought together. After doing a couple of these in a camaro, it makes life much easier. Also keep in mind your steering setup, especially if its not going to be stock. I actually like having the shifter closer to me (i'm 5' 10"). I'll admit I never did an A-body, just trying to help you avoid some headaches on the install.

Edelbrock is out of the swap mounts/headers/exhaust business.

I already have Edelbrock SS A-body headers.
I also already have an LS1 oil pan.

Just lookin for the mounts info on what others have used with success.
I'm going to keep the truck accessories because I know they work in the A-body application.

All except the compressor. I have no intention of notching my frame.

That's not very encouraging.....

The TKO build link probably use the setback plates so the shifter would be in the muncie position.
Since you'll almost certainly be moving the motor forward with the T56, I would suggest theses plates, short/wide rubber or poly mounts and a set of chevelle frame mounts. Then redrill your crossmember for the correct location if needed so the trans and headers fit. The original position of the chevelle frame mounts hang off the front of the crossmember and wont allow any movement forward with 1" seback plates.
