I am piecing together the mini tub kit rear suspension from DSE with 3" drop leaf springs. What are the dimensions of the rear upper shock crossmember? This is for 3" drop leafs and not the quadra link kit. I know its 1/8" steel, but need to figure out the other stuff so I can make it. I've already bought their mini tubs and have them installed as well as their springs. Thanks guys!

I've done some searching...it seems that the general consensus is that the crossmember will raise the area by 2" in the trunk. Can anybody confirm?

depends on how you mount it. I would just set yours up for the shock travel. average is 1 1/2" over the top of the frame rail.

I have one I haven't installed yet at home. I'll measure it tonight and post tomorrow but I think Vince has your answer.

Awesome.... Thanks for the dimensions in advance! So as long as the top of the cross member is around 1.5" above the top of the rear frame rail I should be fine?

The DSE crossmember measures 6" across the "top", the "legs" are 3" and 5" and the length is 48". I measurd the thickness at around 0.130 inched but it was on the end where it was cut to length and deformed a little. They used to advertise the thickness at 0.125".

Pirate - I'm sending you a PM.

I got your PM...sounds good. Does anybody have instructions for installing the upper shock cross member?

I made one out of a 6x6 scrap tube from a steel yard. Its about 1/4 inch thick. I ended up using a heidts 4 link but its still installed and probably strengthens the car a lot. I just kind cut and eyeballed a lot to make it fit.

But if I did it again I would move it back a little, its pretty much directly over the axle so the shocks would probably bind.

Thanks for all the information guys. I know the DSE instructions and templates they gave for the mini tub installation on a 67 camaro sucks! Are there installation instructions of the upper cross member the same for the 67? I also noticed that they had a different part number for 3" drop springs for a 67 and for a 68-69 camaro...is there really any difference in their springs?

the 67's are spec't different due to staggered shocks and mono leaf springs.
