Please bear with me, this will hopefully become my build thread as soon as modification starts...

Well I had an introductory thread about my '78 T/A.

Lately the internet/my car have been winning over me quite a bit and I think I am going crazy. I really want to make my car into more of a pro-tour-er but finding some products I want seems really hard. The majority of related cars on here I see are first gen Camaro's and Firebird's and there are tons of products for those...especially brakes...

I plan to purchase quite a few parts for my car over the next 6 months so I am compiling a list of everything I want. Right now it is pretty much just a wish list because I don't know what I will all be able to afford.

I want to start with brakes, wheels, and tires but brakes are giving me a huge problem. Sure I have some some Baer setups, but $3000 for just the fronts or rears is just too much. I realy would like to spend less than $2000 for some decent brake setups and I have found quite a few, but none listed for 2nd gens :banghead:

Classic Performance Products seems to have a great "Everything" kit (http://www.classicperform.com/Store/1967_1979_Chevy_Camaro/6774FRBP11.htm) Only listed for 1st Gen Camaros...

SSBC has two front brake setups (http://www.ssbrakes.com/commerce/detail/index.cfm?nPID=8747, http://www.ssbrakes.com/commerce/detail/index.cfm?nPID=8748) for a good price...again no 2nd gens listed...

Are there any decent upgraded brake conversion kits for my 2nd gen at a decent price!? I really like the idea of the CPP kit...seems like a decent kit at a good price that comes with everything needed. I am just kind of perturbed from everything I am not finding...

EDIT
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spent some more hours searching and finding more result. Not quite from reputable performance brake companies but I am thinking any disc rears are better than stock drums. I would very much prefer to do an upgrade AND conversion, but starting to realize I may just have to settle for a conversion and maybe upgrade the front (if mixing and matching works alright...don't know why it wouldn't

First up:
Specialty and Classic Car Restorations 68-81 Camaro/Firebird rear disc conversion
http://www.saccrestorations.net/rda125.html
Very cheap at $617 but also very plain.

Second:
Performance Online Rear Disc Brake Conversion for GM 10-12 Bolt rear end
http://www.performanceonline.com/Rear-Disc-Brake-Conversion-Kit-GM-10-12-Bolt-Rearend-12-Rotors-19182/
Still very cheap at $644 and doesn't look half bad...I mean those rear rotors are larger than my stock fronts! The biggest I will likely be going in the front will be 12" as well(these from global west, probably: http://www.globalwestperformance.com/70-78-firebird-73-77-gran-prix-73-77-le-mans-77-78-passenger-77-78-phoenix-front-hub-kit-12-19-cross.html), just for price, any greater and it seems the price is exponential!

Lastly
Classic Industries
http://www.classicindustries.com/firebird/parts/rda125.html
Extremely cheap at less than $600 but just about the same as SACCR setup.

That is what I have come up with in the past couple hours in my search for a decent setup. I don't want my thread to be a bother to anyone but ideas are greatly appreciated and I will also be using this thread as a reference for my self; if I come up with more I will edit more...haha.

several site sponsors here can help you with your project. MCB has a VERY affordable rear brake kit and optional powdercoated calipers.

some places carry the parts for your car but, don't list them on their site. some phone calls may be needed to find what you want. don't get discouraged by that.
