Basically I noticed the front and rear track widths of a C4 corvette is very similar to that of a 1st gen camaro ( I know they differ depending on the year and options). It seems the only major difference is in the wheel base.
It seems the popular thing these days in pro touring is to use c5 and even c6 suspension components. This requires the suspension geometry to be tweaked to accomodate the narrower track width of most late 60's muscle cars.
C4 suspension components are all over the place and have come way down in price due to their age and the fact they are not so popular. Most c4 suspensions I see being sold include the front crossmember/frame section which has both upper and lower control arm mounting location intact. It seems this would be a much easier/simpler platform to use.
I am curious to hear others thoughts and opinions on this. Especially for custom builds it seems there may be some "ease of packaging" and financial benefits to using c4 suspension vs. that of the later models. What do you guys think? Does anyone have any performance figures (i.e. lateral G's, slalom times, etc...) of any of the wayne due camaros with c4 front clip and weld/bolt in c4 irs kits?
Heidts and CA Chassis works both offer bolt in 4 link rear kits for the 1st gen camaro they range anywhere from $5-6k. I think a c4irs kit such as the one wayne use to have could be done for much less expensive.
